About this listen

“Poor Robin Crusoe! Where are you? Where have you been? How come you here?”

In Daniel Defoe’s 17th century masterpiece of English literature, hero Robinson Crusoe relates his story of shipwreck, perseverance, hope, and redemption. Full of adventure, suspense, and daring heroics, this celebration of Robinson Crusoe, updated for the modern young reader, retains all of the classic elements of Defoe’s original tale of courage, insight and the power of endurance.

This was an enjoyable listen. Perfect for children and a great class project (although I guess in this insane world, it may no longer be seen as appropriate reading!) But, rather than cancel culture, let it be a springboard for difficult topics. Plus it covers human courage and resilience in the most adverse of circumstances. It is perfect too for adults. I just wish it had been a little longer. As always, Simon Vance is the best of narrators. He is my favourite Audible narrator and I will try any audio book if I see he is the narrator.

Fabulous Adaptation, Brilliant Narrator

I enjoyed this immensely, what sold me this version was in fact the readers voice, which suited the adventure well, I will listen to the full version of this book too, but this one was very handy for a shorter chunk of time, well told by the narrator.

Great bit of escapism
