A sweeter side of angst that coloured me intrigued
After how things played out at the ending of Regrets the first book in the series, I was really looking forward to Asher's book suspecting who the heroine was going to be. We are now 3 years on and Vivienne has been welcomed into the Sterling family doing her best to raise Colt's son Baz on her own. When Asher moves into her huge mansion you just know straight away things are about to get complicated.
After wanting to hate Vivienne for the role she played in Linc, Penelope and Colt's story in the previous book, Restrictions really shows you what an amazing woman and mother she is to her son. Asher is an amazing Uncle and I loved seeing the more relaxed and at ease almost peaceful side to him in comparison to the angry, confused young man he is around Linc it's a stark contrast. I loved the chemistry between Asher and Vivienne it held a sweeter edge to it especially where Baz was involved but you could tell their was a protectiveness and a jealousy there from Asher when Vivienne was around other men. When they agree to try a physical relationship to sooth an itch from there both the heat between only intensifies to combustion and things explode between them.
I was surprised by the turn the story takes, it stung I have to say but at the same time I get it. Asher is a complex character, he still holds so much anger towards his big brother and if I'm honest I don't really understands why he is still holding onto that all these years on; but it adds to the tension of the story and another layer to his character. Although I found Restrictions a little lighter on the angst and a sweeter story overall I know there is more much more to come where Asher is concerned and he definitely has my attention.
The audiobook was fantastic, I loved Thurlow and Dash's performance on this one. Dash especially played Asher to a tea, giving emphasis on his complex emotional state and he really came to life for me. I have to say this is shooting Dash Coleman up to the top of my favourite narrator's list and I will be on the lookout for more titles narrated by him in the future. Thurlow certainly nailed Vivienne's sweeter vulnerable side for me she made it easy to relate and empathise with her, a great performance all round!

Restrictions can be adjusted!
Falling in love is supposed to be easy. But for Asher Sterling, nothing about it is easy. He is the youngest of the 4 siblings, and is broken in so many ways. Still not over the death of his brother Colt, he is quite the player when it comes to women. But now that he is living with Vivian, the mother of Colt's son Baz, life is beginning to change. Viv too has so much baggage. Overly aggressive parents, she finds herself on her own now that she isn't the perfect cookie cutter daughter. A mother out of wedlock, determined to make it, she finds herself relying on Asher to help her out. And now let's talk chemistry. These two have it in spades. But it's this forbidden romance cannot happen! Angsty, and slow burning, we find ourselves in the midst of their turmoil and growing feelings. I loved Regrets with Linc and Colt, but I have to say there is something about Asher. This man may be young, but is older than his years. Compassionate, loving and carrying so much on himself, you just want to help him. And I love Viv. She is independent and strong, knowing what she wants, what is right and how she feels. It's a fantastic listen that will make you feel.
Now let's talk narration. I love Thurlow Holmes. Her voice is soft and sultry, but with Viv she adds in a sense of independence. She portrays her perfectly, allowing us into her heart. Dash Coleman is a complete surprise for me in the best way. I love his voice and he came in as Asher, letting us feel his bravado, yet he added the vulnerability so we knew there was depth to his character. This is a fantastic team and I hope I get to hear more from them.

I'm living for this angst.
I went into this story blind after reading Regrets and I was shocked at the couple. But I got it. I did. I didn't get nearly enough glimpses into Asher in Regrets and while this isn't quite as forbidden as the romance in book 1, it's still pretty close. I was HOOKED from the start and I didn't want to put this down. I won't say much because pretty much everything is a spoiler unless you haven't read Regrets (which. BTW you should) but listening to this on audio was a delight. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this and all opinions are my own.

Forbidden romance with single-parent
I love this book, the angst, I am addicted to angst, Asher and Vivian's story is a forbidden romance with a single-parent trope. Definitely the type of book you want to read or in my case hear, as I got the audiobook and it was amazing. Thurlow Holmes and Dash Coleman narrated it and even though I was not very familiar with them they did a great job. The story flows and it twisted my heart in every direction.

WOW!!!! WHAT AN AWESOME STORY!
I am just in love.
This audio was so phenominal. One of my favorite angsty love stories I have listened to this year. The chemistry between Asher and Viv was insane. I loved the growth between them from the beginning of the story to the end. And especially how crazy jealous and possessive Asher was for her! So far this was my FAVORITE story by Nicole. Totally a fan of this authors work and everyone needs to get on this bandwagon!!!! 5 stars for this friends/roomates/sorta family members to lovers story. Also THAT ENDING!!!!! I NEED TO READ THEIR HEA STORY!!!!

Hot & Emotional
Have you ever wanted to slap a character upside the head? That’s me with Asher. Lots of feelings on this one- he has deep emotional childhood issues and then a loss of his brother causes him to push away any sort of relationship. Vivienne has her own problems to deal with raising her young son and unsupportive parents. They are navigating through life together but things get too personal when they close a line. Now I have to know where the rest of this story goes! Somewhat of a cliffhanger but this is part of the Sterling series.
I loved the narration for both sides.

Incredible
Oh my goodness, this family. I am so conflicted. I don’t know if I want to sob into my pillow, scream & rip my hair out or hug every last one of them.
I am too invested.
This one gave me everything. The highs, the lows, the aches, the joy. Just all of it.
The contrasts between the friendships & the pure toxicity in some of the relationships was such an interesting dynamic.
I won’t be leaving this one behind any time soon.

So addictive!
I could NOT stop listening to this book! I did not put down the book until it ended and it was a roller coaster from start to finish! The performance by Dash Coleman and Thurlow Holmes was AMAZING. Dash who voices Asher has me ADDICTED, his voice is absolutely sexy! Overall, this book is an angst filled romance that kicks your heart continuously. Asher was an asshole but I couldn't help feeling for this broken man and Vivienne was a sassy but strong queen! Addicting, gut-wrenching and the performance was just amazing. This audiobook is a MUST
