Summary
Bertram Drake, the most mysterious Drake brother, leads a life shrouded in secrecy. Taken from his brothers at a young age and shaped into a weapon to be used by the dragon council, he has one sole purpose: obey the orders given to him, no matter what they might be.
Once a perfect jewel of the Pedigree, Sorin’s sparkle has been dulled. Taken from his cloister and sold regularly to the highest bidder, he has learned two vital truths.
The first: that dragons are monsters who will stop at nothing to get what they want. And the second, most terrible truth of all: that egg madness is a lie—omegas are not saved from a lifetime of pain even when they are separated from their eggs.
When Sorin’s newest buyer mysteriously dies, Sorin sees it as his chance to escape from the hellish life he’s been forced to lead. The only obstacle? A handsome agent of the council who has been tasked with ending his life.… and who has custody of his eggs.
Raven: Part One is a 100,000 word omegaverse mpreg-ish romance set prior to the events of the Forbidden Desires series. It contains action, adventure, heartbreak, laughter, and more than its fair share of steam. For maximum enjoyment, Raven: Part One is best listened to following the events of Clutch, Bond, Mate, Swallow, Magpie, Finch, and Peregrine.

The end of an era - part one
I love the jigsaw puzzle aspect of this entire series, but especially how these 2 MCs fit into everyone else's books, how we get to see the story behind the scenes, fill in MOST of the blanks, if not all. Basically, Part One ends where Clutch begins - we get to see what came before, everything that led up to it, and wow the bombshells dropped & head-scratching moments! My heart broke for both of these guys over and over, I can't wait to see how it plays out in Part Two! While reading (and rereading) the previous books in anticipation for Raven's release, naturally, I had 'ideas' of what was going on - I had absolutely NO CLUE it was anything like what it actually was. Absolutely phenomenal characters and story-telling.
Michael Ferraiuolo outdoes himself with accents, character voices/emoting, spot on and entertaining and engaging as ever. Beautiful performance of excellent material!

So much to absorb!
OMG! All of my emotions are working overtime. I don’t think I can truly put into words how much I enjoyed this book and how much it captivated me. It explains so much about Raven and Bertram and yet I know there is so much more to come in part two. I’ll be diving into it very soon.
I can’t say enough good things about Michael Ferraiuolo’s performance of this book. His talent never fails to amaze me.

Wow…just…wow
How precisely did we get to book EIGHT???? I’ve listened to the other seven books in the Forbidden Desire series…so math means that if you read seven then eight is next.
Right.
Only I’ll say the last one was a few years ago and I wasn’t able to do a relisten of the previous seven books. Wish I’d had the time. If you do, I recommend submersing yourself in the world Piper and Virginia have created and enjoy every last book. If you can’t, though, know you can listen to Raven and still love it.
I didn’t remember Sorin from the earlier books, and Bertram was the brother we heard from least. So getting their stories was almost like starting fresh. This is, in essence, a love story. A great love story. But Sorin’s past hurts make it hard to trust, and Bertram is an agent for the dragon council with his own agenda. When he finds Sorin and hears of his plight, he can’t help but intervene. When they fall in love, the men can’t help but try to find a way to be together.
Alas, they are on opposites sides. A dragon steeped in tradition and an omega formerly from the pedigree who wants that institution abolished. In the end, those opposing sides create a conflict that seems impossible to overcome.
Now, I will say this book comes with some trigger warnings. I didn’t read them as I’m pretty sturdy, but there were some very painful moments in this book. If you need to, check them out. I’ll also say I have part 2 ready to listen – I was grateful they came out so close together.
As always, Michael Ferraiuolo’s performance was a virtuoso. He sank back into the world and all the characters were as he’d previously voiced them. For me, it was like coming home to old friends. Truly, these are wonderful books, made all the more spectacular for Michael’s great narration. Okay, off to part 2…

Amazing!
5+++ Stars!
I fell in love with this world from the moment I met Alistair and Nate and that love has only grown with every couple, throuple, eggs, and pets we've been introduced to in this fabulous series. Raven is the last in the series, so you need to have read what comes before, and this first book in duet is a sort of prequel, so keep that in mind when you start reading.
I wasn't sure what to expect of Sorin, we've gotten glimpses of him in other books in the series and he's always been so mysterious and dare I say, weird? After reading Raven, my heart breaks for him, for everything he had to endure before meeting Bertram, for everything he is still enduring after since he still has no answers. And Bertram, I think he's my favorite Drake, he's so devoted, so loving, so willing to do whatever he needs to do to help Sorin even against his own family.
Michael Ferraiuolo knocked it out of the park with his performance! He did such a fantastic job bringing to life not only Sorin and Bertram, but all the Drake brood as well. Frankly speaking, you can't go wrong with any of his narrations, but this one was especially superb.
I absolutely loved this first installment and I can't wait to listen to the second part. I really can't recommend this book and this series enough, it's outstanding!

Outstanding addition/ending to a fatastic series!
Well, this has been one heck of a ride!
We finally get the mysterious Bertram and the 'hateful' Sorin/Raven's story, but all is not as it seems. Sorin suffered under dragons and it explains so much of his behaviour. Scott and Kelly have built a complex, brilliant and wonderful world of omegas, dragons with lashings of humour, sweetness, pain and steamy heated moments. This story ties up a lot of questions that started with Clutch. Highly recommend this and can't wait to start the second part.
Michael Ferraiuolo gave an outstanding performance. I was blown away by how seamlessly he was back in the saddle with the characters, especially with my favourite, Everard. He has made this an excellent way to experience what has become one of my top 5 fave series.
Bravo to the authors and to the very excellent person who brought the characters to life! 100 out of 10 would recommend.

The author surprised me, and I loved it.
This whole Dragon/ human A/O MM series has been one of my favorites since Alistair and Nate their story came out.
I and so many others have been patiently awaiting Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly their final book(s) all about Raven and Bertram. Before I say anything else; wow what a great start to the final, for me it was worth waiting for.
Sorin/ Raven and also Bertram his place in his clutch explains their backstories. It brings light to so much events in the earlier books in the series.
I do not want to reveal much of the storyline, but will say Sorin/ Raven will steal your heart he is so much more than I ever could think up.
Be aware this is book one of two of Raven and ends at a natural point in the storyline. Now heading straight to book two.
For audiobook:
All I can say Michael kept me captivated any time I was able to listen. He brings all the right tones and emotions when I would want and expect it. Can't wait for the audio for Raven part two.

Absolutely amazing!
I had a feeling that Raven would force me to reevaluate everything I thought I knew about Bertram and his mate, and that's absolutely what this story did. Piece by piece, I learned the unedited truth of Sorin's past, experienced a small fraction of the horrors that shaped him into the man I met throughout the rest of the series, and fell head over heels for his and Bertram's love connection. I genuinely didn't know how happy this book would be, but despite all of the horrible truths there were plenty of sweet and satisfying moments as Bertram and Sorin fell in love. Bertram was such a mysterious and unknown brother throughout the rest of this series, so finally getting to uncover some of his secrets and see what a good heart he had felt even more exciting to me. His connection with Sorin grew slowly, and at first they were absolutely enemies, but over time their preconceived ideas about each other shifted until the last of their reservations had vanished entirely. I really enjoyed seeing Bertram's perspective shift over time as he started to believe Sorin about his awful mistreatment at the hands of dragons, and seeing him get personally involved in the fight to free omegas was awesome. Sorin's trust initially only extended as far as Bertram would allow him access to his children, but over time they grew into such a sweet family unit with lots of happy memories together. That's not to say that all of this story was happy--Bertram and Sorin's relationship could only ever be a secret, and as a result they had long periods of separation that weighed on each of them. Sorin was also dealing with severe mental and emotional trauma from his past, and he had to fight every day to keep the negative voices in his head from taking over. There was also the sinister mystery of Sorin's power hanging over their heads, business with the dragon council forcing them apart, and Drake family surprise visits to keep them on their toes, but Bertram and Sorin never wavered in their love for one another. Life threw so much at the two of them, and still every time they came together it was a joyous, passionate reunion with deep love tying them together. I can't wait to see where the second half of their journey will take them, and I'm already bracing myself for some difficult moments before (hopefully) they get their happy ending.

Amazing
My heart shattered into a billion pieces when reading Raven’s story. His past wasn’t pretty: it was full of pain, despair and helplessness. Crossing paths with Bertram put Raven on a new path.
Bertram and Raven’s story began decades ago and they’ve spent more time apart, than together. Will they get their HEA before Raven is lost? I hope so because I’m rooting for them.
Narrator was amazing as always!

Exceptional, What a Performance by Ferraiuolo
Oh my gosh, Raven: Part I is such a stunning story!!! Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly bring all the feels in this magnificent romance. I'm so incredibly thankful I have the audio version of Raven: Part Two cued up and ready to go. You absolutely need to have read the previous books in this series to fully enjoy the Raven story.
It's not just for Raven and Bertram's heartbreaking love affair, but Scott and Kelly include tons of explanations of the dragon / omega history as well. This novel is just everything I could have asked for!
Fans of Michael Ferraiuolo know what an extraordinary voice actor he is, and his performance in Raven: Part One is exceptional. The accents, the variety of different voices he comes up with for this huge cast of characters. This audiobook is completely enthralling!

Absolutely amazing!
In this book we follow Bertam and Sorin aka Raven. Raven has been the villain in previous books. We've seen him do some horrible things and we finally get his story. Part one takes place in the past and unfolds Sorin's tragic backstory.
I wasn't a fan of Raven in the previous books but after reading his book I'm team Raven all the way. He's my favorite character in the series. My heart ached for him. I cried multiple times while reading this book. I'm not going to spoil anything in this review but I can say that this book was amazing. Sorin's strength was inspiring. The narrattor was brilliant and did a fantastic job bringing this powerful story to life. I really really loved every minute.
