Summary
Brodie: My rock band has reached the pinnacle of success but fame has its price. Sooner or later, people let you down or sell you out. Except Ivan Cross. My manager, my muse, my obsession. There’s nothing in this world that I want more than Van.
And I always get what I want.
Van: Four years ago, I was selected to manage a hot new band called Wayward Lane. I knew I was in for an exciting ride—and a world of trouble—and it’s all because of their lead singer, the provocative Brodie James. We’ve always butted heads but lately, that tension is higher. When Brodie insists on an impromptu concert in New Orleans at Halloween, I make it happen. The city, the food, the music, it’s intoxicating. So is Brodie, and I’m not sure I can resist his pull any longer.
Even though Brodie could have anyone he wants, all he seems to want is me.
Punk-In is a bi-awakening, age gap, workplace, MM romance filled with sizzling chemistry, an unforgettable Halloween concert, and a HEA fit for a rockstar.

An engaging rockstar romance!
I really enjoyed this age-gap band manager/rockstar romance! Brody and Van were such engaging and entertaining characters to get to know, and I thought their journey was nicely written. It's rare for me to find an author who can tell a story across multiple jumps in time, but this is the second of Ava Olsen's books where I so appreciated being able to see snippets of the different stages of Brody and Van's relationship. From the high of Wayward Lane's introduction to the music world to the devastation of some of life's most difficult challenges and all things in between, Brody and Van's relationship persisted, evolving from cordial professionalism to a close friendship to something much deeper. Because of their working relationship, Brody and Van spent a ton of time together, and that gave them plenty of little intimate moments to share and get to know each other inside and out. Brody was definitely the first one to realize his feelings for Van weren't platonic, but it was pretty clear to me that both of them were head over heels, even if they didn't realize it. Van and Brody were fiercely protective of each other and always had each other's backs, even when it went against the directive of their music label. I knew it was only a matter of time before Van realized the reason he couldn't keep his eyes off of Brody was because he wanted to do a whole lot more than just look, and once they left the door open to explore more than friendship all the pieces fell into place perfectly. Their chemistry was insanely hot, their desires in and out of bed matching up like they were made for each other, and the love between them burned so bright I couldn't look away. The two of them had some obstacles to overcome, most notably the fact that Brody was a famous celebrity and that meant any public relationship would be subject to a ton of scrutiny, but they navigated them about as well as can be expected. Honestly outside of the will they/won't they get together drama at the beginning, their relationship was pretty angst free--all stress came from external pressure on the two of them and never drove a wedge between them. I think that's why I wasn't surprised at all to see just how sweet their happy ending turned out to be, and what a spontaneous and fun sendoff that was!

This Book Rocked! Fantastic Story & Listen🎧
This is my first book written by Ava Olsen and she blew me away, not only by her wonderful writing style, but by the fabulous characters and storylines she created. The story drew me in right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. The characters were relatable and easy to connect with, as well as likable. Ivan “Van” Cross has been working in the music industry for close to twenty years and gets a job offer to work for Bandit Music, one of the biggest labels. His boss, Greg Haddley, assigned him to worth with Wayward Lane, an up-and-coming rock band, with Brodie James lead vocals, Iain Holloway on guitar, Faisel Reed on the drums and Ronin Stadler on the bass. It was Brodie who captured his attention that day and the feeling was mutual, but they always kept it professional, and managing the band kept Van busy over the years. Brodie seemed to have grown tired of living the promiscuous life of a rock star, or maybe he was just maturing, but he has grown a new appreciation for Van and developed romantic feelings towards him. Van has only been with women, but is having thoughts on his preferences and who he really is, maybe pan, regardless of that he definitely has feeling for Brodie too. I enjoy watching these two dance around each other and then finally together for the start of what becomes a beautiful relationship. There is never a dull moment in the book, and the story has a perfect balance of drama, a touch of angst, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. The Halloween and ghost add was a fun addition, too. Ava Olsen, thank you for this fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧Zachary Zaba rocked it out and did a fabulous job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who he was portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role he played. He set the perfect tone for the story and captured all the character’s emotions and had you feeling each one. Zaba is an entertaining storyteller and his narration elevates this story to another level. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Brodie & Van
This was my first book/listen by Ava Olsen. Rockstar/Manager Romance, Age Gap Bi awakening, & Pining. Enjoyed getting to know Brodie & Van. The dynamic between an artist manager & their clients is always an interesting one. Hearing the story of how they fell for each other was interesting to say the least. Zachary Zaba did a great job narrating both Brodie & Van.

Loved this story
Ava Olsen is a new author to me - but I am definitely going to read more of her work. Brody and Van’s story are the best kind of rockstar romance. I absolutely love that this is a very well written story, with two people falling in love and navigating being together. There should be more books like this! The narrator was great and I really hope the next book will get an audio version too❤️

MM Band Romance
MM Band romance
This author is new to me, but wow, I enjoyed this book and audio and can't wait for the next in the series.
We meet Brodie and Van, the front person of the band and the band manager. It is brilliantly written and handles delicate situations well. Your heart gets a few tugs along the way.
Zachary Zaba brings these two main characters to life, with French elements spoken beautifully. The narration is great, although I speeded up this audio to 1.20 on Audible, which is usual for me.

Unexpectedly swoony Rockstar romance
5⭐️ narration
3.5⭐️ story
Rockstar romance isn’t my normal go-to genre but this was a fun book to get into it a bit more. I really enjoyed the dynamic between our two MCs, as well as the tidbits we got for the next books in the series which I will definitely be reading.
I loved the flashback/build up chapters we got of their history as manager/rockstar and transitioning to romance, but then it really felt like the story stagnated a bit in the second half. But Zachary Zaba’s narration of the entire cast of characters was really entertaining and kept me hooked throughout!

Not Your Average Rockstar Romance
Wayward Lane is a cleverly named band who are going places. They’ve got a hard rock sound that fans love and are doing well – partly thanks to their manager Van. Van has a secret, though. He used to be a musician and is still a songwriter. One of those songs winds up in lead singer’s Brodie’s hands. He’s moved by the love ballad and knows he wants to sing this song. About unrequited love, no less. Which works out well since each of the men has been pining for each other for a very long time.
They wind up performing a duet at a charity concert in New Orleans and things get…personal. But Van wants the band to succeed – and he believes getting involved with the much younger lead singer will interfere with that. Brodie’s very much of the ‘I want what I want and I’m going to get it’ rockstar tradition. So the match is set and they might get a little help from a ghost or interfering bandmate.
This book also delves into deeper issues such as losing parents, which hits home for many readers – especially older ones with aging parents like myself. While I’m on this track – brilliant French. I love that Van is Quebecois and Wayward Lane wind up playing in New Orleans. Vive le Quebec. Which circles me around to the great narrator, Zacharay Zaba. French is a tough language and Zachary did a great job.
I wasn’t certain what to expect when I scooped up this audio, but I wound up really enjoying it and can’t wait for the rest of the books in the series.
