Summary
She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.
The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds - $50,000 to be exact - could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come...
Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain - Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.
And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

Terrific
Absolutely hooked on Tessa Bailey's stories. Captivating, emotional, realistic. I love how she makes me emphasize with her characters.

Southern girl meets Cop
As indicated by the stars, this was not as expected.
Lt Derek is an aggressively dominant Alpha male who likes spanking and punishment as part of his sexual repertoire. Ginger is a Southern girl with a body like sin and she's driving his self-control to shreds.
I liked her verbal sparring but am not that keen on the spanking.
I will not be reading the follow up novel as there was just not enough here to make me curious about what happens to these two next.
The narrator was the highlight of this experience the contrast between the girls' southern drawl and the voices of the other characters were clearly and convincingly performed.

okay
The writing was good but I didn't always like the way Derek treated ginger. in real life that would have been extremely toxic behaviour (lacking consent etc). I'd have liked more external plot stuff as he was a lieutenant, I thought the drama at the end was good and I liked how the characters developed.

Love, Lust, & Concern!
Really enjoyed this book, although didn’t always like the way the cop controlled Ginger even if was out of love, lust, and concern! But as we all know, takes all sorts in this world! Thought the narration was fantastic, you got a real feel for the characters.

The cop and the southern girl
Kept me interested til the end. I really liked the characters (even super macho, possessive alphahole cop).
Her de idiom tear da the end was utterly stupid and unrealistic but I guess Tessa needed to add some drama.
This is quite spicy with BDSM, even if mild,
Great narration and it’s included in audible subscription
