About this listen

Camp One has one brutal rule: If you attempt to escape, you die - and three random prisoners die with you.

Tom Thrush has resigned himself to dying by degrees, doing forced labor while he slowly starves. When he learns that a distant mesa holds a slim chance at freedom, he does nothing. The price of escape is too high.

Then fever sweeps through the camp. Surrounded by armed guards and an unforgiving jungle, paralyzed by the threat of reprisals, Tom watches as the men he’s sworn to protect die one by one. If anyone is to survive, Tom will have to do the unthinkable.

Escape.

Although this book is a dark one compared to previous books, it was captivating. As a fan of the author and genre I really enjoyed it.

Great adventure with everything you need for a great escape and well written with some interesting philosophical ideas hidden behind narrow escapes and good story telling.
Additionally the performance was polished and pleasant to the ear.

Rip roaring yarn

Brilliantly written by an author who has been able to describe an ordeal of life as a POW and the story keeps going to new heights with every turn of the page

I am enjoying these audiobooks . the narrator is also. talented. The criticism however is with the narrator. Please for the love of god stop actually whispering so low. there isn't a volume high enough to hear what is being whispered every time. so frustrating.

Brilliant! but...

Finally the villains are contexualised. Not more than Hitlerean-style master race zealots. But there is a valiant effort to make them more than the one dimensional villains of the last 2 books. I definitely want to keep reading.
