Summary
Eight-grader Penny Preston thought she knew how to handle the Bodach, the spirits from the fifth dimension. But suddenly something is attacking the structure of the multiverse. Left unchecked, the attack will tear the fabric separating the dimensions and destroy the universe in a cataclysmic cosmic crunch. As the stress on the fabric grows, higher-dimensional energy escapes into Piper Falls, NY, reenergizing the Bodach. Emboldened, they use their regained powers to wreak havoc on the small town. The extra energy draws several new higher-dimensional entities to Piper Falls. One of them, a former Bodach commander, seeks to rally her followers and avenge her defeat at the hands of King Arthur more than 1,600 years ago by reestablishing her rule. The energy also attracts an especially destructive ethereal Celtic spirit, which has a special taste for ancient artifacts and exotic nuclear particles. The last of the new arrivals is a mysterious and conflicted shape-shifter a spy known as Newiddyn.
The interactions of the newcomers and their empowered brethren with the town's residents results in chaos and brings paranormal researcher Darin Kolchak back to town. Teamed with the deputy sheriff, their high technology investigation leads them to the local lab conducting state of the art nuclear fusion experiments. The same lab where Penny's parents work. Penny and her friends must again dodge detection, as they sort out the capabilities and intentions of these powerful entities. One bad choice or wrong step risks unleashing the apocalypse of the Darkest Day.

Enjoying this series!
Third book in the series and I really enjoyed it. The series as a whole has gotten better with each book and it’s easy to listen to and a satisfying continuation with each release.
This one builds on the foundation set by the previous books and develops the story in some new areas.
Michelle again does a wonderful job lending her talent to the series and for me has become the voice of the Penny Preston books - I couldn’t imagine it being done with anyone else and as always, she does a wonderful job of performing throughout the series.

Rather slow compared to previous books
I didn't find this as intriguing as the previous books. I have to say that all the Penny Preston books I've listened to prior to this one, have had me riveted to the story, so perhaps I was expecting too much. All in all, it was good, but I had hoped for more.
Narration as always was very good.

Nothing Misaligned here
I enjoyed this book but think you have to have read or listened to the previous books in the series for it to make sense but that is not hardship as I enjoyed them too. What I like about this series is the fact that it is so different to every else I have listened too and you have no idea where the author is going to take you next on the adventure. It is backed up by some great and interesting characters, that you can't help but like, even when you aren't sure whether to trust them or not. I liked how the Camelot legend player a big part in the story but it does jump around from the past to the present and the story is good by multiple characters as the story unfolds but somehow this works and makes for a captivating story, that had me hook. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next.
With power surges happening all over town, as the Bodach tries to regain there power and strength. Penny and here friends are the only ones to stand in the way. More crazy creatures are finding the way through the dimensional portal and Penny will have to look to the past in order to have a future. But can she trust her new allie? Can she afford not to? With her parents caught up in the centre?
I liked the narrator. She brings the story to life and drags you along on the adventure too.

Loved it
I loved it. Great story, great characters and a great ending. I love the way it moves through the different time periods from Arthurian times to the present day. Lots of Arthurian references, shapeshifters, strange energies and a multiverse ending creature. Michelle Bab does a great job with the narration but still cannot get a welsh accent but apart from that a super performance brings the story to even more life. I received a complimentary copy from the narrator and am leaving a honest voluntary review
