About this listen

I just can't imagine me without you....

It's the mid-1990s, and 15-year-old Guernsey schoolgirls Renée and Flo are not really meant to be friends.

Thoughtful, introspective and studious Flo couldn't be more different to ambitious, extroverted and sexually curious Renée. But Renée and Flo are united by loneliness and their dysfunctional families, and an intense bond is formed.

Although there are obstacles to their friendship (namely Flo's jealous ex-best friend and Renée's growing infatuation with Flo's brother), 15 is an age where anything can happen, where life stretches out before you and when every betrayal feels like the end of the world.

For Renée and Flo it is the time of their lives.

Tale of Growing up, school and life, boy troubles. Didn't really go deep enough to make any lasting impression

Not really my cup of tea. Could of been good, but I didn't like it

I love Dawn's booka - I did struggle a little between which character was talking as Dawn reds the whole story. I love your work thank you xxx

I loved the relationships, girl, boys, families. Dynamics of people, growing changing.

I read the book “so lucky” and loved it so much that I wanted to try this one. The narrator’s voice wasn’t distinctive enough between characters. Story dragged a little. Will try the next book in the series though

It was ok

I did really enjoy this book, it had a very interesting storyline and built the tension over the time. I thought it was well read and seeing some of the other reviews, I personally did find it quite easy knowing which person was talking. As an audiobook, it was a little complicated to keep track of the different names of the very beginning, but I got there!

Overall, it was a really good coming of age storyline of life like for 15-year-old schoolgirls . Managing challenges at home, death, and divorce of parents, and happy school Friends … knowing who should be and should not be a friend. I’m very glad I read it.

A good ‘coming of age book’

Loved it

This book does a good job of illustrating what it's like to be a young girl on the edge of her Womanhood trying to figure out relationships and friendships.

Loved it. I’m a Guernsey girl so loved all the local references….but had to giggle at some of the pronunciations! ‘Vazon’ being the funniest! 🤪

You can take the girl out of Guernsey but….

This is the third of dawn’s books I’ve listened to and every time they’re relatable, believable and entertaining.
