About this listen
In a career that has spanned six decades, Sir Tom Jones has performed with almost every major recording artist, from Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis and Sinatra to Robbie Williams, Van Morrison and Jessie J, across every imaginable genre, from rock and pop to country, blues and soul. The one constant throughout has been his unique musical gift and unmistakable voice.
In this, his first ever autobiography, Tom will revisit his past, both personal and professional, exploring the twists of fate that took a boy from a poor Welsh coal-mining family to global celebrity status.
He will chart the stories behind the hits as well as the ups and downs of his professional life - from the heyday in Las Vegas and subsequent fallow years in the 1980s to his renaissance and comeback thanks to the direction and management of his son, Mark - as well as shedding a light on the life he has led behind the cameras and the stage.

First class through out
Genuine Honest and sometimes heartfelt this is worth the time taken to appreciate the man his life and from simple beginnings to international fame and his family and especially his wife and son.
I thank Sir Tom for being you and many more years to come
Ps excellent narration by Mr Pryce tho I have to ask did the man himself lend a voice to a few chapters...or are my ears playing tricks..hmmm thanks again.

Excellent listen
I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. It showed different sides of Tom Jones I knew nothing about. The fact that the reader had a (South?) Welsh accent made it much, much better - I am a fan of authors reading their own books and this made it sound more real.
I have heard a comment that a fellow listener/reader found the language a bit coarse, but then I guess they haven't been to South Wales for a while!
I love auotbiographies and this was no exception. I gained a lot more respect for Tom Jones and could understand even the bits I did not agree with. The man has dignity and integrity and deserves respect. The story about Elvis and teh bathroom was absolutely hilariouzs and made it onto breakfast radio in Los Angeles, as well as nationwide TV in The States.
Well done to everyone involved!

Great character, great story, great performance.
You'd think with the life he's lived one wouldn't be able to relate to Sir Tom Jones. This isn't the case. This is the story of his life as told by him and it sounds like "one of the boys" telling it.
It has plenty of anecdotes, plenty of touching moments and is really easy to listen to. I couldn't wait for my next drive to get my next fix.
Finally I have to mention Jonathan Pryce's performance. With such a famous actor I thought I would just hear his voice. However, Pryce leaves his well spoken, slightly Welsh accent behind and brings an earthier, South Wales lilt to proceedings. This works a treat and only occasionally does the feeling of being spoken to by Sir Tom subside.
A great performance for a great book.

Interesting, informative, and the narrator sounded just like Tom Jones!
This book is a great reflection of any career, the ups and downs, the good and bad choices. I was impressed that TJ gave credit to others that helped his success, but a little disappointed that he could not see the damage done to his wife by his actions.

Love Tom's calm voice. Helped me relax to get some sleep. HOWEVER! I found myself wanting to hear his story awake. so both day and night I have listened and re-listened. Living legend with a hilarious sense of humour!

Interesting and entertaining
I’m not a fan of Tom Jones. I don’t dislike him at all, I just don’t follow him. However, I am a fan of autobiographies and I really enjoyed this one.
My overriding impression is that this book is written by a genuinely nice guy, and it is expertly narrated. It was interesting to learn about his career and the industry he works in.
I would recommend it, and it has made me interested in his music.

Enjoyable
The authentic biography of one of Great Britain's best.loved stars. I loved this commentary on the transition from Thomas Woodward to Sir Tom Jones.
For the first couple of chapters, I was a bit put off by the narration by Jonathan Pryce, who was obviously not Tom, but then the accent grew more realistic, and by the middle of the book, I was accepting the voice was actually Tom!
A thoroughly absorbing autobiography, written with a sense of humour!
