Summary
The Earth is changing. The alien invasion brought social upheaval, advanced technology, and an armada of peacekeeping robots. But Alan, a college student pursuing a now-useless degree, cares little about all of this. He has only one thing on his mind: the Game.
A fully immersive virtual reality, the Game appears to be a major part of the invading civilization. Alan can't wait to play, recklessly diving into the digital universe. Soon though, Alan realizes the Game is anything but simple, and the stakes are higher than he ever imagined.

Amazing book
I bought this book upon reading other people reviews, it's not the kind of book I read but do play a lot of computer role play games. I instantly connected with the story and style of the book and listened to it at every opportunity. I loved it!!!!!!

A twist on the VR gaming genre.
What did you like most about Opening Moves?
It was very different and altough we know the character is in a virtual environment i still felt like i cared about it and felt afraid for the character several times.
What did you like best about this story?
It's a Scifi fantasy at its finest it combines the idea of virtual reality with scifi/fantasy. Sometimes i forgot they were in a virtual world.
What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
I can listen to the book anytime i want and the story teller did a really good jobb on making the characters sound different but at the same time having a tone that was easy to listen to.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Sadly i could not but if i had the time i would have.

great scifi
great story hope the author gets the support to continue the story. good scifi writing which is a different take than most litres which tend toward being in a fantasy world.

Excellent story, very enjoyable
It's been a while since I enjoyed a book as much as this one. The story is interesting and engaging and the characters are spot on. I suppose you need to enjoy gaming to some extent to fully appreciate it. I loved the detailed description of game mechanics.
PS: The narrator does a really good job! Great choice for this book.

I Loved it!
If you have any experience in playing MMORPG you will love the story.
I couldn’t stop listening and wanted this to actually be a real-life story.
