Summary
What makes a global corporation give away its prized intellectual property? Why are Ivy League universities allowing anyone to take their courses for free? What drives a farmer in rural Africa to share his secrets with his competitors? Find out.
A collection of hactivists, hobbyists, forum-users, and maverick leaders are leading a quiet but unstoppable revolution. They are sharing everything they know, and turning knowledge into action in ways that were unimaginable even a decade ago. Driven by technology, and shaped by common values, going open has transformed the way we live. It's not so much a question of if our workplaces, schools, and colleges go open, but when.
Packed with advice, this entertaining listen by learning futurist, David Price, argues that open is not only affecting how we are choosing to live, but that it's going to be the difference between success and failure in the future.

The Future of Learning Has Begun
I am a huge advocate for lifelong learning and, though early retired, still participate in MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) on topics that take my interest. This book covers how companies such as IBM, 3M, Google and AMP have embraced a culture of openness across their organisations. How, starting with Thomas Edison who encouraged innovation from his employees by allowing them to make mistakes in the search for innovative ideas, a very strong case is made, with examples, for open company structures and education systems. The book is packed with practical hands-on experience and quotations, a must listen for all educators and company CEO's. The audiobook has particularly good narration adding to the audio experience.

Would be good to have an update after corona forced education online - what effect has young peoples experience of this had on the move towards a more digitised education?

Interesting and useful insights.
I can't decide whether this book was the springboard for many others that follow a similar stream or visa versa but either way it is a good read/listen and confirms what I think we all now agree with, education needs to change to be more relevant.
