Summary
Bloomsbury presents One Last Thing written and read by Wendy Mitchell.
The last book from bestselling author and advocate Wendy Mitchell
‘This beautiful book will give hope and courage to many people’ Kathryn Mannix
‘An uplifting memoir that reminds us we should relish every moment’ Daily Mail
‘A really thoughtful and thorough exploration of end-of-life concerns’ Professor Celia Kizinger
After her diagnosis of young-onset dementia in 2014, Wendy spoke affectionately about the liberating feeling that came with having open conversations and confronting life’s obstacles head on. So, in the years leading up to her death, Wendy set out to have what would be her most important conversation: to explore what options are available – and what options are denied – at the end of life.
Courageous, balanced and wise, One Last Thing lists the practical ways that we can prepare for death, offers the gentle words to raise the topic with our loved ones and consults leading experts to educate us on the topic of assisted dying.

Inspiring
Brave, powerful and convincing - Wendy‘s voice is so important and needs to be heard. This final part of her story will change the way end-of-life provision is discussed. It must.

Lots of food for thought
Thank you Wendy for such an insight into dementia. I’m also enjoying following your blog too. Bless you for the courage and stamina to achieve this beautifully written and well read production. Always such a blessing to hear the author reading their own work.

Exceptional
Thank you my friend for writing this amazing book, which I chose to listen to on Audible in order to capture your own voice. We have discussed these matters privately in the past among a group of friends, but people need to be encouraged to discuss death and dying much more openly, exploring individual wishes and the right to a full range of choices. It is not a subject to shy away from, but rather one to embrace. I was incredibly moved by the epilogue that you wrote, which I know will continue to give hope to others more newly diagnosed.

What an inspiring and educational person and book
What an inspiring and educational person and book. So sad that Wendy had to end her life by stopping eating and drinking. I do hope she received the pain relief and sedating she had heard was possible
