About this listen

"So your spell changed Basil into a bulldog?" gasped Daniel.
"Yes," said Heckie. "I adore bulldogs."

Heckie is not just a witch. She's a good witch who wants to make the world a better place. So, with her Toe of Transformation and her Knuckle of Power she turns unpleasant people into animals.

But to her surprise, Basil's parents want their son back...

I liked this book as it excluded many strange creatures and alike it was amazing

Heckie is a kind witch who wants to rid the world of evil people. With the help of her familiar who breaks out in pussy boils every time someone evil comes near, and a kind boy named Daniel, she turns nasty people into animals and puts them in the public zoo. It is well read and entertaining. Some of her children's stories are aimed at the age 8+ group, but this one is readily accessible even to the younger audience (my 5 year old is hooked and has no problems following the story, unlike Which Witch which she loved but needed some additional pointers to keep up). It is less gruesome and altogether a gentler story, with a moral edge. The writing, as with all Eva Ibbotson books, is engaging and funny.

An entertaining story for children
