About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

From the global No. 1 bestselling author and creator of the hit Netflix drama Stay Close and Fool Me Once comes the thrilling new crime thriller.

A year after the devastating events that took place in Fool Me Once, a secret from former Detective Sami Kierce's college days comes back to haunt him. Present day is hard enough for Kierce, but his past isn’t through with him yet…

Sami Kierce, a young college grad backpacking in Spain with friends, wakes up one morning, covered in blood. There’s a knife in his hand. Beside him, the body of his girlfriend. Anna. Dead. He begins to scream - and then he runs.

Twenty two years later, Kierce, now a private investigator, is a new father who’s working off his debts by teaching wannabe sleuths at a night school in New York City. One evening, he recognizes a familiar face at the back of the classroom. Anna. It’s unmistakably her. But as soon as he makes eye contact with her, she bolts.
For Kierce there is no choice. He knows he must find this woman and solve the impossible mystery that has haunted his every waking moment since that terrible day.
His investigation will bring him face-to-face with his past. Soon he discovers that some secrets should stay buried

Editorial Review

Will he find redemption, or will his past destroy him?
This is one of my most anticipated books of the year. Fans of Fool Me Once, whether you devoured the book or binged the Netflix adaptation, are in for a treat as Harlan Coben returns with the sequel Nobody’s Fool. Picking up a year after the shocking events of the first book, this novel plunges into the tumultuous world of former Detective Sami Kierce, a man struggling to outrun both his past and his tarnished reputation. I am eager to see how Kierce’s story unfolds. Will he find redemption, or will his past destroy him once and for all? If Coben’s track record is any indication, Nobody’s Fool will be a gripping, edge-of-your-seat ride filled with high-stakes drama and the kind of storytelling that keeps you guessing until the final page. —Dawn G., Audible Editor

If I think about the story it was ok, not Harlans best work. But the narration of the main character especially was awful.
I kept listening because I was interested in the ending, but I kept having to have breaks as it was hard listening to more than a chapter.

The narration spoils it

Great story, great narration. A great listen and highly recommended. Need more words to get to fifteen minimum.

The best female voice from a male narrator I've ever heard.

initially I thought I would like to return this book but as it wasn't an option, I continued to listen. After a while the storyline drew me in and kept me guessing about the outcome. Enjoyed this book but I wasn't keen on the narration

A slow burner

No spoilers but looking forward to his next one. Hoping for lots more featuring his character and his assistant

Adeel Akhtar perfect for this role - again.

Normally I start a novel by Harlan Coben easy to come to grips with. Not this storyline. I started with my normal excitement that I had a new novel by this brilliant author to relax and enjoy. unfortunately, this was not the case until about half way, when suddenly the plot went from a jerky start to full-blown top speed, and I couldn't read or listen fast enough to find out what really happened to Victoria.

A brilliant storyline filled with outstanding characters very well drawn by the narrator. I swapped halfway through from written word to audible and think it's finally proved to me that I'm beginning to enjoy audible more than the written word. Is this what aging means?

A very complicated plot thanks to author Harlan Coben

Definitely not one of Coben’s best, but not terrible. The characters are quite cheesy, the narration of the main character is very OTT, there are cliches everywhere and pointless plot tangents, which just make the whole story seem quite implausible and sloppy. The reveal feels like an anticlimax.

However - it wasn’t a terrible use of a credit; it was engaging enough to stick with. Maybe if it hadn’t been Harlan Coben I’d have returned it early on, but I had trust that it would be a fairly enjoyable ride because of his back catalogue. But I wouldn’t rush to buy it if you’ve got others on your To Be Read list

Coben is getting a bit complacent

Coben’s books are always amazing! This one felt slightly different in that I didn’t really like the main character, but still, great story and a great read!

Not his best but certainly still a cut above the rest!
