I liked the story, I liked the Agatha Christy references. The performance was disappointing, though.

A little disappointed with this book, sadly. I spotted the resemblance to the Agatha Christie novel quite quickly, and predicated how the book would end. A shame, as I had high hopes. Christie is did much better.

It’s probably one of the biggest compliments of Agatha Christie’s career that years after her death And Then There We’re None is still such a massive influence on mystery/thriller storytelling. This book, which is one of the things I admire actually actively references and makes parallels to it. Which I think works in preparing the reader especially if they’re a Christie fan for what is to come. But while And Then There None becomes more gothic and macabre the more murders happen, this book makes the increasing body count seem much more tragic and melancholy. You genuinely feel sympathy for most of these characters and want most of them to survive.

I think it takes a second to fully connect and remember which characters are which putting the names on the list to the person’s POV. But it comes together pretty quickly. I was genuinely a little surprised by the twist of the murderer reveal. Very well plotted, clever inspiration/adaptation from a classic whodunnit.

Agatha Christie lite and done right

I thought this was a decent thriller, not the best of Swanson's novels in my mind (I prefer Rules for perfect murders), but it kept my attention until the big reveal. Like all the best whodunits you can just about work it out as the plot gets exposed so you feel smug with yourself. Definitely worth a credit.

While not my top most favourite of Peter Swansons novels, it is still a well deserved read/listen. He has a particular style which a cross between Agatha Christie and Patricia Highsmith! A few of his novels like this deeply reflect the obvious admiration and love he had for Christie novels. Reflecting the essence of the famous Christie ‘And then there were none’ slowly each 9 people on a distributed list to the fatefully intended are quietly killed off…..but we don’t know why or by who….. an interesting re-done plot with an unpredictable outcome. The reveal is in both satisfying and so very stylistic of Swansons work, a very enjoyable listen!

The author obviously loves the subject of Christie - which most of his readers do too I expect so you relax and let the narrator take you a really nice little trip. It’s an excellently constructed thriller/whodunnit.

I had to return this title as the narration made it unbearable. It sounded like a robot rather than a human. Off putting.

Terrible nasal monotone narration

The narrator was so boring, sounded like a school kid who was made to speak from a book in class.
As for the story well to confusing who is who and then tried to stick it out and in the end didn’t care for what happened too the characters.
