This book hit everything for me, and I seemed to relate to Kinsey and everything he was going through. It was great writing, and the characters felt so real that you knew them.

I need more of this in my life, so I am heading off to find more books by Nora to immerse myself in.

John Solo did an incredible job narrating this book, which helped bring the characters to life and a whole new immersive experience.

I love these books! Beautiful, emotional and very careful (in the meaning full of care). Benoni and Kinsey are finding their dynamics and their relationship grows. We also learn how Kinsey got his injury and get to follow him on his journey of healing, physically but mostly emotionally.
John’s performance is so good. Emotional.

This is a continuation of book one in the duology. I would advise to start with 'Clean start at forty seven', since this book won't make a lot of sense without reading/ listening to that first.
This book is a proper hurt/ comfort story.
The relation between Benoni and Kinsey develops further and becomes more daddy boy like. On the other hand Kinsay is mending his relationships with his children and coming to terms with moving on after religious trauma ( it is prevalent in the series) and recovering from addicction. I appreciate that a point is made that NA/AA is not the 'holy grail' to remain in recovery.
As a random mention about this book, I absolutely adored the fact that Kinsey finds out what happened with his childhood crush.

Narration was for me 4-, at a certain point I just had to stop listening for a bit since the narrator got on my nerves.

I loved the book of this but OMG the audible was simply amazing. How John does all those voices is beyond me. So put Noras words and John's voice well I'm in heaven. One I know I will definitely listen to again.

This is a really heartwarming story of how someone can come to love themselves and their circumstances despite great pain and sadness, and how compassion and love can heal the deepest wounds. Fair warning, it is a story, so yes, it is on the idealistic side of things, no doubt many people's real life experiences are not so positive, but it's a lovely picture of how things can be.
The daddy/boy relationship between Benoni and Kenzie is just beautiful; if you enjoy this kind of warm, comforting, nurturing vibe, then treat yourself to these two books! I think they should definitely be read together, they're really one book in many ways.
The author has a way of writing about really difficult topics in a sensitive and accessible way, and can move you to tears without breaking your heart - some of my other favourite authors aren't as kind!(Yes, I'm looking at you, Hailey Turner)
John Solo is a great narrator for this story, a very emotive and well paced delivery that's easy to listen to and get lost in.
