Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Master storyteller and internationally bestselling author Christopher Paolini returns to the World of Eragon in this stunning epic fantasy set a year after the events of the Inheritance Cycle.
The world is no longer safe for the Dragon Rider Murtagh and his dragon, Thorn. An evil king has been toppled, and they are left to face the consequences of the reluctant role they played in his reign of terror.
Now they are hated and alone, exiled to the outskirts of society. Throughout the land, hushed voices whisper of brittle ground and a faint scent of brimstone in the air - and Murtagh senses that something wicked lurks in the shadows of Alagaësia. So begins an epic journey into lands both familiar and untravelled, where Murtagh and Thorn must use every weapon in their arsenal, from brains to brawn, to find and outwit a mysterious witch. A witch who is much more than she seems.
In this gripping novel starring one of the most popular characters from Christopher Paolini's blockbuster Inheritance Cycle, a Dragon Rider must discover what he stands for in a world that has abandoned him. Murtagh is the perfect book to enter the World of Eragon for the first time...or to joyfully return.

a long awaited Murtang and Thorn story
In my opinion a bit slow at the start. But picks up the pace with action and mystery and lots of characters. Can't wait to find out what future holds for the crimson duo.

A refreshing, powerful and booming return to the ever stirring world of Alagaësia
The story following Murtagh is very different but in no way diminished, but rather gives appreciation for what has been established and great intrigue for what is to come.
what is quite interesting is that even though reading The Inheritance cycle and the fork the witch and the worm greatly, Greatly enriches Murtagh, it actually works as a standalone story

Fantastic Continuation
I have loved the World of Eragon since I was young! Reading and rereading these books over and over again over the years. They have all been amazing. This is no different! I was sceptical at first at how Murtagh would be portrayed, but I shouldn't have doudbt Mr Paolini! We were always going to be in safe hands. The world he has built is sublime, and adding a new threat to be faced was brilliant. Absolutely loved this! And having the legend Gerard Doyle back again was nostalgia all the way!

Phenomenal story delving into Murtaghs side of the Eragon books, so tense and captivating. I hope there are more books to come

Perfect!
The number of books I’ve read trying to relive the world of Alagaësia makes me sick! Nothing compares to this world of dragons and magic it is in a league of its own. So happy to be returning to it after so long (and many re-reads of the OG series), please write at least 10 more books, it still won’t be enough but it should take a minute to get through! Also, this would be an insane tv series, as long as you can find a production team the sticks to the book 100% because they butchered the eragon film

Loved uveck.
I think uveck would make a fantastic rider in the future so I hope to hear more of him. The whole book was fantastic but if I had to pick somthing that stood out it was definitely the brother hood between certain characters, if you know you know. Thank you Christopher once again.
