About this listen

No one gets out alive....

The Scottish Hebrides. A strange group of people have descended on the small island of West Uist. Camped out in the grounds of the Castle, they are preparing to celebrate the summer solstice.

Museum curator Finley McNab becomes suspicious of the cultlike group, and when he challenges them it seems his investigations could be deadly. Inspector Torquil McKinnon is called in to keep an eye on the group. Are they innocent pagan worshippers, or is something more sinister going on behind the scenes? As the day of the solstice draws ever nearer, whispers of murder are on the horizon....

Murder Solstice is the third crime thriller in the detective series featuring Inspector Torquil McKinnon. Perfect for fans of LJ Ross and Faith Martin.

This was a gentle ramble through Midsomer-like murders at every turn. With an amiable but hapless team of detectives who never solve any of the crimes. The villagers do that. Read all three and I hope Audible records his follow-up novels. My only criticism is the narrator’s Finnish accent - appallingly bad.

Well told crime fiction

This series is improving but for a little island there are lots of murders - a bit like Midsomer. However the characters are becoming familiar, Torquin the DI, Morag, his sergeant, Ewan and the 2 special constables. They manage to solve the murders together with the help of other local characters. There is also plenty of humour.

This is Bk 3 about Inspector Torquil McKinnon on the Isles of Uist. The narration is pleasant and the story and characters are interesting. Although there are more books in the series it seems this is the last audiobook which is a shame as I wanted to hear more about the quirky characters.
I found this series of three books in the Audible Plus Catalogue so they were free to download and a pleasant find. They are definitely a niche find and rather laidback - but worth a listen. Give it a try.

Another Pleasant Story

Felt as though I was right there in West Uist - good plot - love the main characters

Great yarn

I’m a dog lover, so didn’t enjoy the description involving the dog fighting, but it wasn’t too graphic. The story overall was excellent.

The main characters are very likeable and it’s an easy read, with very good narration, making each character distinctive.

These books are good, solid police detective fiction. I love the characters and the setting of the island. Well narrated. This does contain some distressing scenes with dogs, but it's deftly handled. Of course, there are dead humans too, but you know... it's dogs!

A good story
