About this listen
Mongrel, a creature more wolf than man, leads a lonely life on the fringes of pack society—until the night a handsome vampire shows up with a mysterious request.
Bowie, a vampire cursed to a life of endless nights, maintains close ties with his human family. When young girls in their village go missing, he must act quickly. But to find them, he’ll need to convince the local werewolf pack to loan him their best tracker—a wolf known as the Mongrel.
Though he hates the slur, Andras is used to being called Mongrel. When Bowie refuses to refer to him by anything but his given name, Andras can’t help a flicker of unexpected trust toward the stranger. He volunteers to help Bowie, risking banishment.
Can two tenderhearted men overcome their traumatic pasts and work together to rescue the girls before it’s too late? Or will the world’s most prolific killer snuff the flames of their passion along with the lives of the captives?
***This steamy love story spans the country of Hungary as Andras and Bowie journey through cities and wilderness on their quest to right a villain’s wicked wrongs. Mongrel features a sweetly possessive werewolf, a cinnamon roll of a vampire, and the worst killer in history. A surprisingly fluffy MM Paranormal/Historical Romance considering the subject matter.
HEA guaranteed with loads of laughs along the way and no cliffhanger ending!

The narration was entertaining, and Tom did a fantastic job of giving each character a distinct and distinguishable voice.
I received a free copy of the audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

The story (and romance between) of Bowie and Andras was really sweet. Bowie saw past the anomaly of Andras, (hence the name Mongrel). There lots of dashes of humour, sometimes a pinch (very small) of sadness, but overall, it's a found/made family, romance, mystery and history lesson all in a very interesting book.
The narrator is new to me and I think he held his own with his performance. I liked his timbre, characterisation and cadence. Made revisiting the story a good time. I look forward to listening to him do the rest of the series.
Really enjoyed it!

What started as slower paced clue-hunting and trail scenting turned into a more frantic mission after one of Bowie's beloved family members was taken. I felt the urgency driving both men to the brink of exhaustion, and somehow even in the midst of their stress and fear they still turned to each other for comfort and support. Their growing romance was the one bright spot in an otherwise grueling chase, and I soaked up their sweet affection as much as I could. Bowie and Andras were totally adorable together, and it made me really happy to see the love growing between them as their many days together turned steamier and steamier. I found it easy to stay engaged in the storyline as Bowie and Andras trekked from town to town, and they met a lot of interesting individuals along the way. Everything was building up to the moment they found the location of the kidnapper, and their rescue mission was not as easy as Bowie and Andras had hoped it'd be. I thought the pacing of the entire book was spot-on, building up slowly enough that I wasn't overwhelmed with all the details and then turning up the urgency so that the stakes felt really high by the time they reached their final destination. Similarly, I thought the romance built to a natural and satisfying conclusion, and by the time Bowie and Andras were confessing their love I felt like they had a rock solid foundation. All in all I couldn't have asked for a happier sendoff for this couple, and I'm adding the rest of the series to my TBR so I can see what happens next!

Story - interesting choice in time period and very appealing MCs. I really liked the magic/supernatural parts of the world building and the plot ideas. However, if someone writes about a specific period, it would feel better with a bit more accuracy. I know it's fiction, but some parts just didn't make sense. After the struggle Andras had to get away from his pack initially it felt a bit odd that they were never heard from again.
very enjoyable

I adored Bowie and Andras. I loved them as people and I loved them as a couple too. They were absolutely adorable together. I really liked how loving and caring Bowie was and Andras was the sweetest most precious character. I wanted to hug him and keep him safe. I fell I'm love with them and their happy ending warmed my heart.
The narrator was fantastic, I loved how he voiced Andras and Bowie and all the side characters. The audiobook had great quality.
I loved it, I really want to read the rest of the books in the series. I'm super intrigued.
