The number-one New York Times best selling In Death series explodes with intrigue, passion, and suspense. Now, Nora Roberts, writing as J. D. Robb, propels you into the darkest night of Lieutenant Eve Dallas' life - when a killer comes to call.

Eve's name has made a Christmas list, but it's not for being naughty or nice. It's for putting a serial killer behind bars. Now the escaped madman has her in his sights. With her husband, Roarke, at her side, Eve must stop the man from exacting his bloody vengeance - or die trying.

I love these books. The depth of the characters is delightful and there interacting superbly developed.
Gritty, loving and compelling.
Highly recommended.
Brilliant narration

Superb entertainment

These characters play well in short story format. A tight plot, executed well.

However, because it’s stripped to the bare bones, it wasn’t as enjoyable. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a brilliant piece of work, well placed in the catalogue of work, when everyone is fragile and tense because of what preceded this.

But you miss the play on words, the ‘deep’ conversations about the etymology of words and phrases, the banter of the police department and various personal interactions, so yes, this is a great tale, but it’s surprising how you miss the heart and soul of it.

Brilliant narration, as always, by Susan Ericksen.

Short, but packed

Would you listen to Midnight in Death again? Why?

No, I found the narration odd on this book. I'm not sure why but Susan Erikson sounded different. I could tell it was her but I didn't enjoy it as much as the normal books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Aside from Eve and Roarke I would say Mavis. Love her.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Not on this one. I'm glad it was only short and the narration got back to normal on the book after.

A good extension of Holiday in death

2022 AUDIBLE REVIEW
I have also started buying the audible books and have listened to the audio book version as well.
The narrator is improving with the overall inflection, or I am getting more used to her narration style, and seems to be improving with separating the characters voices. Roarke has started to actually sound Irish and I can separate the voices of the main characters better.
BOOK REVIEW
Short book that continues on from the end of Holiday in Death.
Poor Eve and her team get no more than a few hours downtime from the previous tiring case, before a criminal Eve put away a few years previously, escapes from prison.
Between Christmas and New Year, Eve, Roarke and the others get no rest, as Eve tries to outthink a madman.
Eve ends up having to protect Dr Mira by handing herself to this madman.
Short and entertaining.

Even though it was only a short book it was a brilliant one just what you would expect from Eve Dallas.
