About this listen

Did you know that a staggering 62% of the food in our supermarkets is ultra-processed - and that eating these foods slowly poisons us over time?

In this hard-hitting exposé, New York Times bestselling author Dr Robert Lustig reveals how our addiction to ultra-processed foods - fuelled by the food industry, big agriculture, big pharma, medicine, and government - is driving a deadly surge in diseases like diabetes, heart disease, fatty liver, cancer, and dementia.

We've been led to believe these chronic illnesses are just part of aging. Dr Lustig shatters this myth and shows that it's actually a consequence of what we eat.

The solution? Returning to real, unprocessed food. Dr Lustig offers a practical, doable plan to restore health, boost immunity, and reclaim wellbeing - for ourselves and society.

'Metabolical lays bare the depth of the relationship between the recent and profound perversion of the human diet and its overwhelming health consequences.' - Dr David Perlmutter, author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Grain Brain and Brain Wash©2021 Robert H. Despite coming from a different philosophical perspective I found this book compelling, it’s arguments logical and consistent its presentation often dense with information but eminently digestible.

A lot of valuable information, insight and extrapolation on a host of topics.

On a side note it helped me shift 16ibs in 5 weeks and improve a host of chronic symptoms.

I agree with the author: protect the liver: feed the gut!

Performance a little flat but solid audio quality and clear, regular speech.

Systematic, well argued, digestible for a layman

This book is an absolute must, I study ancestral health, and have read many books on insulin, paleo, carnivore etc etc. This audio book balances all that research out nicely by filling in the gaps regarding processed food. We all know it’s shit and bad for us, but we don’t really understand why, this is the only audio book to date, that after completing went straight back to the beginning to listen again. I will probably buy the physical book also, I found it that important/good. Robert Lustig is an incredible human being.

Perfect.
