About this listen
At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence with her best friend Gabby. Shortly after, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.
Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?
In concurrent story lines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Is anything meant to be? Is there such a thing as a soul mate? Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she’s found him.

A good read.

I finished the book 2 weeks ago, and was unsure if I'd enjoyed it or not.
In that time I have been jolted into the realisation that a book which is so thought provoking, and keeps popping around in my head is, indeed, one worthy of a fine review.
I had not read a review of the book, had no idea what I was to read so was left wondering from the start if the recording was faulty. Without entering the realm of 'spoilers', all I will say is listen carefully throughout, in the certain knowledge that at no point has the recording gone wrong at all.
Essentially a romance but without the sugar coating. It is honest, warm and tells not one, but two stories of Hannah in the search for stability and love, the stunning relationship she has with her closest friend Gabby and the intense unfolding of their lives.
This is an imaginative book, and a quite powerful tale told in two scenarios.
Those interested in the meta-universe will rub their hands in glee.
Another winner from a clever, innovative writer who tells her tales with aplomb - as I learned from her acclaimed "The Seven Husbands of Evelyne Hugo" and "Daisy and the Seven".
Congratulations, Taylor Jenkins Reid, well done, very well done, indeed

If you’ve ever wondered “what if” when you’re not sure if you’ve made the right choice, this is the book for you.
Fantastic Multiverse Story

Daisy Jones is my clear favourite, Evelyn Hugo & Malibu Rising are 2nd or 3rd and this one, One True Loves and After I Do follow up behind.
I needed an easy listen to distract me from a tough week and this fit the bill perfectly.
I liked the characters, I enjoyed the stories, it made me laugh and I think it cleverly explored the concept.
