About this listen
A routine tax audit. A panicked phone call. A senseless tragedy.
He could have avoided it all. But Alfred Favero, Senior Analyst with the IRS, didn’t. To save the woman he loves, he must rewind time itself to learn the secrets that will claim her life.
But fate isn’t done with him yet. To get to the truth, he must go undercover to a comic book convention. In costume, no less. The stakes couldn’t be higher. But Alfred is determined that his most challenging case yet will not be his last - because he’ll be darned if he’s going to die wearing pointy ears and face paint....
©2019 Rachel Ford (P)2019 Rachel FordNancy is able to talk Alfred into taking time off work and going to a dreaded comic book convention, his worst nightmare. That is until future Alfred comes to tell him Nancy dies in his time line and he MUST stop it. Alfred soon finds out that no matter what he tries he gets another visit and so enlists help from an unlikely source, Josh Nancy's ex marine/ex boyfriend. Surely the two of them can keep her safe? Alfred thinks getting Nancy away from work, where all the trouble started, should keep her alive but with a ruthless killer on there heels not even costumes and disguises will help. There is only one thing for it....to go boldly where no man has gone before...Well except for all the geek's.
I liked the narrator and hope he sticks with the series because he has slowly worked his way into the voice of Alfred and I can't imagine anyone else doing it now.

Wow, Rachel can really come up with new and different scenarios within the parameters she set and the characters given.
Book number three focuses more on the budding relationship between Alfred Favero and Nancy Abbott, Senior Tax Analyst and Lead IT Analyst for the IRS.
Alfred has to battle his jealousy of Josh, Nancy’s ex boyfriend and now good friend, which is egged on by his analyst colleague Justin; but he also grows as a person as he has started to open up to new experiences out of love for his girlfriend. To this end he is going with her to a SciFi Convention and has even agreed to Cosplay and finds that he can enjoy himself.
Before they go Nancy finds a discrepancy during a routine search through some charity fund files, she contacts Alfred to talk about it, but is prevented from giving him details as she is murdered. Grief stricken Alfred uses the time travelling device to go back and warn his past self of the danger and helps him prevent the murder. This initial prevention of the killing is not the end of it and the adventure carries on at the MarvelousCon. Josh, also finds out about the threat and Alfred reluctantly agrees to his involvement of Nancy’s protection.
I was going to say that I liked this book better than the second one, but they are so different that they appeal in different ways. Another great read/listen.
It is good to see that the same narrator has continued to read the book and, as I mentioned in the previous reviews I have found increasing the playback speed to x1.10 improved the listening experience for me.
