Rob and his now ex-wife, Victoria, met at university. Their relationship started off happily, they married and moved to Falmouth in Cornwall. However, it quickly descended into a nightmare marriage of psychological manipulation, coercive control and emotional abuse - all from the woman who was supposed to love him.
Rob's life was gradually destroyed as Victoria extended a web of lies around him, manipulating, suffocating and isolating him from the outside world. It was only through his baby daughter, Grace, that he found the courage to leave Victoria. But even then, Rob could never really escape, and Victoria continued to haunt and torment his life. In fact, her actions became more and more extreme, culminating in approaches to at least six different men with requests to help her murder Rob.

Compulsive listening
This is an incredible book . The story line is unbelievable, yet absolutely true . A book like this, although disturbing in places, has been needed for a while . It is the story of a devoted fathers fight for his child and ultimately his life . It was very well read by the author . I simply couldn’t stop listening .

Harrowing and honest
Incredibly well written and heartbreaking. I was gripped and couldn’t stop listening. I also hope it inspires to parents to never give up and fight. This is a dad who just put his child first after everything.

Very powerful
I first saw this story on the 24 hours in Police Custody episode and really grabbed me. I downloaded this on day one and whilst I haven’t finished it yet it has gripped me from the first moment I pressed play. If anyone wants to know about things like Coercive control and domestic abuse this is an all too real account of it. Highly recommended

Hell hath no fury
A true life psychological horror story.
Well written and read by the author who's ex wife victimised and terrorised him, trying to ruin his reputation and his life before seeking to have him killed.

Mind blowing, a must read
I can barely fathom what happened here, I’m still shocked, horrified and awestruck in almost equal measure. I can’t leave the short required review as I couldn’t do it justice. Just buy this book is my recommendation. The author is one of the most inspirational and truly decent people I have ever come across. I’m disgusted by the way fathers who leave the family home are all tarred with the same brush as if they are not worthy. If only all of us could be half as decent and compassionate as the author, the World would be a much better place. I wish all concerned all the very very best 💕

Gripping
Well-written and well-read, this book is a gripping, introspective, and emotional account of a story that I wish wasn't true. It was, however, and Rob's telling of events is an honest account of his ordeal... sensitive and compelling with some welcome little injections of humour. Recommended.

I have read alot of true stories.
It was an OK story but became boring in parts very slow.
