I was a little unsure if the author would have anything to contribute when compared to the groundbreaking works of Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross that the author summarises in this book. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! The author's own spiritual maturity was actually the highlight of the book and continued to extrapolate and clarify many things that the original works have lost in the modern era. This book presents a enlightening glimpse of the entire journey towards spiritual maturity and the wondrous experiences and expected setbacks along the way. There is great comfort and hope to know that our present struggles are a stepping stone to a deeper love of God and that there is always more of God that he is eager to reveal to us.

Really practical and applicable theology
