About this listen

From award-winning author Ilona Andrews, an original novella set in the New York Times number-one best-selling Kate Daniels world and featuring fan favorites Derek, Curran, and Kate's very independent ward, Julie.

Scarred, solitary Derek Gaunt has separated from his Pack and is truly a lone wolf. With no family, he answers to no one but is fiercely loyal to a chosen few. So when several of those close to him are murdered, he'll stop at nothing to hunt their killer through the magic-drenched streets of Atlanta.

Never one to be left on the sidelines and equally determined - some might say stubborn - Julie Lennart-Olsen soon joins in his pursuit, and what began as revenge turns into a race to save the city. Their search pits them against powers they never imagined and magic so old, it predates history. It may cost Derek his life, but there are things for which even he would risk everything.

I enjoyed the first Grey Wolf book. The narrator did very well and was a good choice for Derek's book. I love all of the Ilona Andrews books so its great to have side stories for each of the characters. thank you

Julie and Derick have a short story where you find out shot more about these two characters. Learning more about Julie's straights as she is always sheltered by Duran and Kate. Derick you get to find a bit more of what motivates him also, but you still are not sure if their dynamic. Read with the gruff voice of Jeffrey Later which you can imagine Derick's voice has become, spot on.

Oh Audible I adore thee! Please, Oh Please, can we have the rest of the series on UK audible?

Falls between Book 9 and 10 of the Kate Daniels series. We see Derek take most of the lead in this new series from two of my most favourite authors.

Well narrated, perfect tone for Derek.

Short but sweet

Love Derek and Julie, it’s even better when they have their own novella. The narration is excellent and brought the book to life.

Phenomenal

I liked the fact that this book gave me context for future books, but more as a prologue, and so it didn’t do too well as a standalone book. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the narrator as it came across as a bit over dramatic, but he was ok. I’m glad I listened to it, but won’t come back to it in the future. It just fills the gaps in narrative for other series by this author linked to the Kate Daniels universe.

Enjoyable for context and as a prologue
