Summary

Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self is the account of an extraordinarily talented lucid dreamer who goes beyond the boundaries of both psychology and religion. In the process, he stumbles upon the Inner Self.

While lucid (consciously aware) in the dream state and able to act and interact with dream figures, objects, and settings, dream expert Robert Waggoner experienced something transformative and unexpected. He was able to interact consciously with the dream observer - the apparent Inner Self - within the dream. At first this seemed shocking, even impossible, since psychology normally alludes to such theoretical inner aspects as the Subliminal Self, the Center, and the Internal Self-Helper in vague and theoretical ways. Waggoner came to realize, however, that aware interaction with the Inner Self was not only possible, but actual and highly inspiring. He concluded that while aware in the dream state, one has both a psychological tool and a platform from which to understand dreaming and the larger picture of man's psyche as well.

Waggoner proposes 5 stages of lucid dreaming and guides listeners through them, offering advice for those who have never experienced the lucid dream state and suggestions for how experienced lucid dreamers can advance to a new level. Lucid Dreaming offers exciting insights and vivid illustrations that will intrigue not only avid dreamworkers but anyone who is interested in consciousness, identity, and the definition of reality.

A bit repetitive

Struggled to finish. Feeled a bit repetitive. Got all info I wanted after few hours.

Excellent book on an important topic

This book gives a comprehensive overview of the western approach to lucid dreaming and dream work. I would recommend it for anyone interested in learning more or deepening their practice.

Surpassed Expectations

I'm learning to lucid dream and as a beginner I found this book to be of tremendous value. It explains various techniques that can be used to help but beyond that it shows the huge value of lucid dreams. I was going to say the sky's the limit, but with lucid dreaming it doesn't appear to end there! Enjoy.

Comprehensive insight

A thorough and open-spirited exploration of the dream realm's limitless scope - mainly from the author's personal experiences.
Appendix includes lucidity techniques and advice for all levels of dream awareness.
I found Robert's openness in sharing his dreams to be very enjoyable. It is clear he has drawn more pathways than conclusions over his lifetime, making him ideally receptive for the dream world's confidences.
recommended for anyone with even passing interest.
it could've perhaps done with a more soulful narrator, but Mel foster is as clear as a windowpane - he never gets in the way. I can't fault this audiobook, and touched lucidity one week into listening.

Not what I expected ( in a good way)

This was not what I expected ( in a good way ). The book intelligently approaches the subject and takes on headlong some of the perceived ideas of purportedly becoming master of your nocturnal universe.

I found it a good compliment to the works of Robert Moss and is a good practical further read to Freudian and Jungian ideas.

All in all a thoroughly thought-provoking and enjoyable read.

Best book on lucid dreaming out there!

I have listened to a few different books on lucid dreaming and this is by far the best. Don't bother looking elsewhere, this book is hands down the best place to start.

great book

While there are better books for begginers like a field guide to lucid dreaming, this book goes into depth of lucid dreaming and does that really well. I would suggest to start with some other book one or two and then listen to this one. After this one you pretty much will know everything there is to know abaout lucid dreaming.
