I enjoyed the story, it was sweet with some surprises...

Adam was sweet & loving, but there was something missing & I can't quite put my finger on what it was exactly... maybe it's just that I'd expect a bit more of conflicting thoughts or even some anxiety from someone with amnesia... he just seemed a bit too accepting of not knowing who he was... I can't quite explain it!

I liked Mariah, as she was intelligent & quick on her feet!

I liked the LGBTQ aspect of the story.

I loved most of the characters, Adam included... the villain was extremely easy to guess, but there were some unexpected turns in the story...

The narrator was neither good nor awful, but a better narrator would've made the story a lot better!

a sweet story

The story was very good but it was ruined by the narrator. All the male voices either sounded like 13yo boys or like effeminate men or women. Basically when Adam and Mariah spoke you couldn't tell who was talking if it didn't say, their voices were the same. Also from 1 chapter or scene to the next there was no pause at all, you realise it's another scene because the characters change. I definitely won't be listening to any more books narrated by Kate Rawson, that was the first and the last, so I'm pleased to see that the next book of the series is narrated by Simon Prebble.

Loved the story

Dad wins a manor at cards, Dad is murdered by highwaymen. Cad who lost estate to Dad offers lustful marriage to bereaved heroine to regain estate.
Hero 's ship blows up and hero is flung into sea - injured and almost drowns. Heroine discovers hero and hero is able to walk with her assistance to the manor.
That's just the start of the plot from which it launches into high fantasy aided by heroine's deceased half gipsy grandmother.
I admitted defeat half way through chapter 7.

The story outline and the very competent writing and narration kept me going, but the various over-happy outcomes were just cloying and unbelievable in both appearance and execution, and ultimately spoiled what was otherwise a good yarn.The very pat murder outcome, with no real understanding given as to motive and a very unbelievable final scene was similar. Minor modem phrase and mispronunciation issues were easier to ignore, but I wouldn’t read more of this series.

First of all - THE NARRATOR IS DOING A GREAT JOB !!!

I nearly didn’t buy this book on all the bad reviews regarding the narrator BUT I am glad I followed my instinct …

The book is most enjoyable and the plot AGAIN wonderful!!!
I am so happy to have found this author!!!

Now I shall go for the next book of hers :-)
