Summary
Since employees who walk out the door cost their companies up to 200 percent of their annual salaries to replace, retention is one of the most important issues facing businesses today. And with so many surveys reporting that employees are unhappy and not working up to their full potential, engagement is a second serious and costly issue. The latest edition of this Wall Street Journal best-seller offers 26 simple strategies - from A to Z - that managers can use to address their employees' real concerns and keep them engaged.
The fifth edition has been revised and updated throughout and includes many more international examples, reflecting the fact that Love 'Em or Lose 'Em is available in 22 languages, from Albanian and Arabic to Thai and Turkish. Its message is truly one that spans continents and cultures.

Theoretical and lacks real life connections
While this book preaches about solid concepts then I think it fails at delivering them. When I listened to this I was finding myself agreeing with the ideas but I cannot really say that I learned anything from this book. I don't think it's because "I know it all" but because the way the ideas are presented just don't connect for longer periods of time.
For example, books I've read such as "hard things about hard things", "Principles: life and work", or "The lean startup". From all of these famous books I have learned some tangible new ideas. Authors offer their perspective through experiences and stories. This book does not do that. If you are into that kind of thing then this book isn't for you.
However, I have listened/read far worse books, at least this one is not trying to sell you the book after you've bought it. The narrator isn't that bad either.
