About this listen

When he left the LAPD, Bosch took a file with him: the case of a production assistant murdered four years earlier during a film-set robbery. The LAPD thinks the stolen money was used to finance a terrorist training camp. Thoughts of the original murder victim were lost in the federal zeal, and when Bosch decides to reinvestigate, he quickly falls foul of both his old colleagues and the FBI.

When the investigation enables him to meet up with an old friend, shadows from his past come back to haunt him.

Vintage Bosch

Having listened to a number of Titus Welliver narrated Bosch books recently it was a jolt to encounter Len Cariou behind the mike but once I warmed to this I began to love his tones. And unlike many, I actually quite enjoy the musical interludes at the end of chapter sets. This story is good but it lacks some of the intensity and intelligence of the best HB novels. Nevertheless, a must for fans.

Got me from the 1st paragraph.

Brilliant as usual and the musical references are sublime. Neat plotted thriller with a great twist.

Interesting, clever storyline. Great narration.

Narration was believable and well performed. Best narrator since Dick Hill in my opinion. Great storyline. Much enjoyed.

Decent

If you don't mind the odd bit of dramatic background music this is a decent book to listen to. Especially if a fan of Harry Bosch series. took a bit to get used to the book being in the first person but quickly got into it.

Brilliant!

Absolutely brilliant - I waited a long time to read this thinking a retired Bosch wouldn't be quite so entertaining. I was wrong. Absolutely top drawer story telling and superb narrarion from a narrator who sounds a good deal like Titus Welliver. It is a bit of a slow start, but it really is worth the wait.

Great performance

This is another great Harry Bosch story but it is enhanced by a bit of the music he likes at chapter junctions - it gives the book more atmosphere.

Intrigued and mystery

Another Micheal Connelly masterpiece. From start to finish, especially the finish keeps you guessing. Then just when you think that's it...Connelly sucker punches you with something else.
