I liked this book a lot until suddenly I didn’t. The first part, everything about Belinda being locked in, Carly’s belief that she’s awake, the birth of their friendship and the beginnings of Belinda’s feelings for her new friend, all that is really good. Annette Mori handles the topic in a very delicate manner and the way she writes both characters makes them very endearing. The secondary characters – both young women’s families, the friends they meet – are well-written too.

Then a terribly clichéd French character entered, which started to get me out of the story. The way one of the secondary characters’ struggles with alcohol was written didn’t help and the not-acting-on-our-feelings game Carly and Belinda play for all the wrong reasons got old. It felt like the book was trying too hard and it lost me on the way.

The narration is pretty good, the various young women have distinctive enough voices and the pace is effective.

In the end, this wasn’t a book for me, but other reviewers found themselves sufficiently involved in the first half of the story to enjoy it in its entirety, so give it a try and make up your own mind.

I really enjoyed listening to this audible recording of this book, it was really interesting to hear the MC from her locked in perspective. Beautiful progression of romance between characters and finished the book in 2 days. Lovely narration to a well written book. Will be looking at other books from this author!

This is a lovely emotional awe inspiring book. The journey these young women go on is beautiful. It’s so well written this author is super talented. the audio performance is perfect for this book the narrator captures the characters emotions really well. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of art and couldn’t stop listening I finished it on a day. 5/5 on all accounts from me

This story has the best opening. I don't want to give any spoilers but I've never read/heard the story of a semi-comatose person, from their own perspective. It has a unique choice of protagonist in that respect. It sent chills down my spine whilst I was shouting in awe at the same time. This by itself deserves 5-stars for this book. It's a beautiful story of hope, love and resilience, whilst being quite realistic with the hardships of recovery/rehabilitation.

This was is unlike anything I have listened to - the author navigates a very complex topic with sensitivity. I am not really a fan of 'coming of age' books, which I felt this was in part (characters are young), but I was interested in the journey of the MC, which kept me listening.

locked Inside is ultimately an uplifting story. Told in the first person by Belinda a young person who fell into a coma and who 'woke up' against all expectations. It is a story of love, friendship,loyalty and true grit !
