About this listen

In the Garden of Eden, at the beginning of time, an outrageous lie is born: that women are inferior…

Lilith and Adam are equal and happy in the Garden of Eden. But when Adam decides Lilith should submit to his will and lie beneath him, she refuses–and is banished forever from Paradise.

Demonised and sidelined, Lilith watches in fury as God creates Eve, the woman who accepts her submission. But Lilith has a secret: she has already tasted the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. Endowed with Wisdom, she knows why Asherah–God's wife and equal, the Queen of Heaven–is missing. Lilith has a plan: she will rescue Eve, find Asherah, restore balance to the world and regain her rightful place in Paradise.

Inspiring and thought provoking

A powerful feminist retelling for the ages. A triumphant voice of Lilith, finally reclaiming her story, and empowering every woman mentioned in the bible by doing so. Beautiful and heartbreaking in equal measure

A beautiful tale of womenhood

History has done a fine job of forgetting women. This books seeks to undo that. I found it a little difficult to follow at first because it is quite the departure from my normal stories but as the story progresses I fell in love with the ideas and truths within it. I will look for more from this author.

A return to The Mother. Stunningly good.

What a great listen. A re-telling of Genesis and beyond. For all who yearn to get back to tithe Mother, this will feed you. For those who don’t, it’s still a great story beautifully told.

perfect if you want someone to breathe into your ear for 10 hours

the story - which felt shallow anyway, especially considering the massive potential of the subject matter - was made even worse by the unfitting voice of the narrator. but what made me actually drop it was the fact that this audiobook was filled with an ungodly amount of the narrator taking breaths all the time, which imo should not be audible and just shows it's a low quality recording.
