Wow, this book blew me away, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it hostage the entire time. The world building and character development is fantastic, the dynamics of the A/B/O in the Omegaverse is interesting and original and everything you need to know is in the descriptive details. Lydia Anderson ran away from her family and pack when she realized her parents could not care less about what she wanted or her safety. She started a new life with hopes they would never find her to make her return home. She faces other challenges as an Omega, the biggest being her heat and staying away from alphas, trying to hide her scent to avoid unwanted attention from them. Her job in the florist shop takes her to event centers, and that is where he saw and smelled her, Rhett, an alpha from Pack Saint Clair. She disappeared on him, but he was not about to give up on finding her. I adored Rhett, kind, caring and thoughtful with Lydia and her needs. Also loved the pack dynamics, with Alexandra, Matteo and Lucas. This first book of the series lays down the foundation for the rest of the series. Lydia is accepting of the existing relationships of the pack members and they all accept her. There is a thorn on their side, one preventing them from bonding though, that thorn being Seth Douglas, a nasty omega who is throwing Lydia’s past demon in her face, Darren. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, heartfelt emotions, some angst, some twists, steamy scenes and a slow burn romance. Thora Woods, thank you for this amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Matt Haynes and Maeve York are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They have a complete understanding of the characters they are portraying, giving each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee and were believable in every role they every role they played, accent and all, shout out to Haynes with Rhett’s Boston Irish when he rolled with it. York played Lydia’s role with perfection, too. Both covered the roles of several characters and were just as amazing in each. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, having you feel every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to and their performance enhances the story to another level of greatness. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Lydia is an Omega that has been through a lot with an alpha from hell when she runs into the St. Clair pack which include three Alphas and a Beta. Rhett, Mateo, Lexie, and Lucas have a way of life they love leading and a Omega from the past that will not let them go. Lydia is put in the middle because of her attraction the the St. Claire pack. Loving this series can not wait to read book two.

If you like omegaverse and a strong yet meek FMC this is definitely for you. Pack St Clair are loyal and love each other but this little omega comes and shakes things up. They’ve all got baggage but they’ll work through it together. A must listen for sure! Can’t wait for the next one but listener be warned, it ends on a HUGE cliff hanger 🫦

Thora Woods has taken the concept of an omegaverse and put her own unique spin on it; it has all the usual hallmarks but there are some additional politics involved, polyamory not being the norm (although the St Clair dynamic is a little ambiguous) as well as consent and autonomy being one of the ongoing recurring themes. I haven't read many omegaverse books with a female alpha let alone as the prime alpha and I'm interested to see more of Lex in the series and her dynamic with the others in the pack.

Lex and Lucas aren't given much on page time and this very much focuses on Rhett and Matteo's relationships with Lydia.
Rhett was the standout for me with his thoughtfulness, how he courted Lydia, and showed her what a real relationship between an Alpha and Omega should be like. I loved his analogy of people not being like a jigsaw looking for a missing piece. In contrast, Matteo's relationship with Lydia is completely different but still felt genuine.

Although the pacing felt a but sluggish towards the middle, the performances in this dual narration kept me completely engaged throughout. I loved Matt Haynes performance, particularly as Rhett whenever consent was discussed as it felt so earnest. Maeve York really brought Lydia to life; the juxtaposition of the Lydia in flashbacks, to the Lydia at the beginning of the book, to the Lydia at the end show just how far this character has come. From the last chapter we are definitely moving towards a confrontation between Lydia and her past and I'm looking forward to seeing Pack St Clair prove they have her back.

3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

I enjoyed this. Lots of talk about consent and boundaries that we love to see. It did feel like the pacing was a little bit off and I feel like there's a lot still undiscovered between all the pack members and the outlying characters. I'm aware that this is a trilogy/series but it kept me from fully engaging in the story. That's why this is getting 3.5 stars instead of 4.

Lilacs and Leather is a why choose, omegaverse, paranormal romance that held my interest until the end. This is an MMMFF romance but this 1st book focused on Lydia, Rhett and Mateo's budding relationship. I loved these characters together and I loved the pack dynamics with Alexandra and Lucas included.
The story was sweet and steamy and with some slight trigger scenes included. It ends in a cliff hanger and I can't wait to see what happens next. I would definitely recommend it.
I listened to the audible version of this story which was narrated by Matt Haynes and Maeve York. They did a great job of bringing the story to life. I loved the accents they created for each character and they really projected their emotions into the story. It was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.
