Good guide

I sometimes work with teens and always looking for resources to equip me to help them more.

This was a good listen. I found that aspects of the nine essential skills could even be applied to non-autistic teens.

I liked the fact that the author encouraged you to acknowledge with the teen that some of this will be difficult and not simple state that things will be okay and get better,

Good guide. Worth the listen.

Very Insightful.

Though I don’t have any children with ASD. I do have many friends who fall on the spectrum. I feel like this book has made me more insightful on the ways I can be beneficial to their life and overall growth. I have noticed that often times people with ASD feel as though they’re independence isn’t respected. This book on the other hand encourages Autistic teens to be as independent as possible, as well as knowing how to ask for recourses when they are needed. I appreciate this book. And I think it’s something anyone can enjoy, even if you are just reading for educational purposes.

THIS IS SUCH AN EDUCATION FOR BOTH OUR TEENS & US

This book is fantastic. So many books I read are either to teach us as parents or the world in general about autism. I have recently found a couple books that were great at educating parents on the steps to take. But this book is to teach our ASD teens how to be independent. The author talks about explaining things in detail to your child so that they can begin to understand and take part in the next steps toward independence. He treats the ASD teen as an equal, not a special needs person and as such he encourages them to believe they are equals and do not need to be second class citizens. He goes into great detail on all the different parts of their lives they need to master in order to be independent. As a parent who knows their child will probably outlive them, what a great guide to be sure they are ready for life without their parents in charge. Every parent of an ASD child needs a copy of this book for reference.!!!!

Comforting and informative

We were looking for an audible to help give us and our 15-year-old son some guidance and experience on becoming independent with autism. It's well narrated, easy to follow steps and the information is written from practical and heartfelt experience. You listen to the words and can relate on so many levels but also find the information within each chapter so helpful and positive. The audible has not only left us, as the parents feeling more confident and comfortable for the future, but our son has loved listening to the easy-to-follow steps as well. Highly recommended.

Very Informative a Thorough Education

This is the book I really needed but didn't know how much til I listened to it. You see it's personal my grandson has ASD and I never knew how to handle him neither does my daughter. As a family my son my wife has just been trying to get by staying out of his way not knowing what to say or do from his behavior to forgetfulness This book is the tool we needed. This book covers everything from personal care to social skills to communications which I have a problem with and so much more the topics are openly laid out with poignant situations and lots of solutions and suggestions. I feel I now have the tools to even talk to my daughter about my grandson. I highly recommend this book for anyone with ASD or around someone with ASD Its like seeing a therapist on ASD and getting management skills to deal with ASD it's all in this book

This was such a great find!

I have been looking to find a book that can guide me through this time in my life, I am currently woking with autistic children but more specifically teenagers, my husband grew up with an autistic cousin so I was very familiar with what that is and how that can be different for everyone, but recently I started working in the field hands-on with autistic teens and this book is exactly what I was looking for. It gave me all the information and guidance I needed to better my understanding of these teens. It's a great book to have in your back pocket. 10/10 recommend.

Heartwarming and insightful!

This audiobook was a wonderful and well-researched guide for those raising a child with ASD into adolescence and adulthood. It is packed with helpful techniques that can be applied to aid in developing your child's communication skills, relationship skills, occupational skills, personal safety, and much more. There is even an entire chapter teaching you how to help your child learn personal finance skills which I thought was a very unique and helpful addition! Anyone who knows someone with ASD can benefit from this book – it doesn't just have to be for parents.

Insightful Guide

A really great audio, i like the way the author breaks it down into simple steps and provides straight forward tools. I actually made some notes as there was so much great information to take away from this. There is not much support out there and i am glad this available, a great guide and i highly recommend.

Filled with great info!!

My nephew is autistic. We don't really have a close relationship because I didn't know how to relate or where to start. Now, I can be encouraging and assist him with acquiring some very important life skills. I have some great info to share with him. Love it!!
