About this listen

THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER FROM THE AUTHOR OF CRAZY RICH ASIANS
Eden Tong is used to feeling out of place. Growing up next door to Greshamsbury Manor, she spent her days in the shadow of the chilly matriarch Arabella and her children: free-spirited Augie, golden child Bea, and Rufus, Eden’s childhood best friend.
When she receives an invite to a luxurious wedding in Hawaii, she finds herself thrown back into the family’s orbit: and face-to-face with Rufus. The future Earl is gorgeous, artistic, and – unbeknownst to Eden – desperately in love with her.
But his mother has other plans. Arabella knows the terrible truth – the Greshamsbury family is drowning in debt. Rufus needs to find a match with serious money to keep them afloat. Arabella is prepared to destroy anyone who gets in her way. Including Eden . . .
Lies and Wedding transports its listener from the white-sand beaches of Hawaii to the colourful medinas of Marrakech, via the glitzy bachelor pads of Beverly Hills and opulent English countryside manors. This is a hilarious, juicy, and gripping story about love and money – and the lies we tell to keep them.

Kevin at his finest
I preordered this book as I’ve listened to all the others and couldn’t wait to see what his characters got up to next - I wasn’t disappointed!
The only thing I struggled with was the staccato speech of the narrator. I found it really hard to listen to at times. The accents weren’t great but I really struggled to relax with the cadence of the narrators speaking pattern. It sadly detracted from the experience.

Sorry the reader ruined it for me
The reader's performance did not let me enjoy the book. I wish I had bought the paperback on this occasion

Fun, light and eye opening
Always love Kevin Kwan’s book and this one doesn’t disappoint (maybe even better than Sex and Vanity?) It’s fun, light and perfect for the beginning of a very busy summer, if you’re looking for some escapism into some Rich People Problem! It’s obvious that he has a soft spot for Chinese and the privileged, and I just love it! 😄

Fun story; marmite narration
The story is fun but the narration is grating. I appreciate that the narrator has made an effort to differentiate each character’s voice, but some feel so exaggerated that it makes for difficult listening.

OMG! Fabulous!
Loved it! It was was like being a guest at the most outrageous wedding ever! I couldn't stop laughing as the drama unfolded, especially when Kitty, the queen of chaos, made an appearance. This book totally satisfied my craving for luxury, scandal, and belly laughs. I couldn't 't put down!

Annoying narration of a mediocre novel
This doesn’t have the level of wry humour that I expect from Kevin Kwan and which has made the other novels so compelling and enjoyable. And unfortunately, the narrator had a really weird cadence to her telling, with pauses where I’m sure it wasn’t written. She made a lot of the characters loud and shrilll - thus is probably how they were intended by the the author but reading that is one thing; hours of hearing it are quite another!

Terrible character voices
The story was light and ok. If the mother’s character had not been so OTT it would have been better. Similar but not as good as Crazy Rich Asians books.
The voices of most of the characters were excruciating to listen to and I nearly had to give up.
Worst reading I have heard and I have listened to hundreds of books. Audible should record another version.
