Gustavo Adolfo Domínguez Bastida, que más tarde adoptaría el apellido Bécquer; perteneciente a sus antepasados nobles oriundos de Flandes, nació en Sevilla el 17 de febrero de 1836. Quedó huérfano en la niñez, lo que marcó su sensibilidad de por vida.

Es el poeta romántico que ha dejado una huella más honda en la poesía española. Enfermo de tuberculosis murió en Madrid el 25 de diciembre de 1870. Sus rimas son poemas llenos de amor y dolor. Sus leyendas son narraciones breves cargadas de musicalidad y pasión, a veces nos dice dónde las oyó o cómo las imaginó. Este audiolibro reúne muchas de ellas adaptadas para que niñas y niños puedan descubrirlas.
