Es ist viel schöner zu spielen, auf Bäume zu klettern und zusammen mit Konnipelz ein Floß zu bauen. Fast wäre er im Moor versunken, wenn da nicht die alte Trulla gekommen wäre. Sie kochen Allerleisuppe, unterhalten sich und schließlich geht Kleiner Pelz zum ersten Mal alleine nachts durch den Wald. Und dann - ganz unmerklich - wird aus Kleiner Pelz ein Kallepelz.
