Summary
Adalbert Stifter (1805-1868) war vor allem ein Meister der genauen Schilderung - "gleichsam mit dem Pinsel gemalt". Bei "Kalkstein" handelt es sich um eine Erzählung aus der Sammlung "Bunte Steine". "Ich erzähle hier eine Geschichte, die uns einmal ein Freund erzählt hat, in der nichts Ungewöhnliches vorkömmt, und die ich doch nicht habe vergessen können. Unter zehn Zuhörern werden neun den Mann, der in der Geschichte vorkömmt, tadeln, der zehnte wird oft an ihn denken."
So beginnt die Geschichte über einen Mann, der vielleicht ein seltsamer Heiliger ist, aber doch wohl eine Art Heiliger.
