About this listen

Can their love survive the most shocking revelation?

Sexy college senior Jamie Atwood has fallen hard for MMA dark horse Michael "the Machine" Kage. With his hot muscled body, intoxicating green eyes, and proclivity for rough sex, Kage is a potent aphrodisiac to the innocent boy-next-door. The danger, the intrigue, the feel of his strong hand around his throat, the knowledge that his fighter would kill or die for him. From the moment Kage grabbed onto his hips and channeled all that masculine aggression into claiming his body, Jamie was ruined for anyone else. Passions run high as the lovers try to assimilate into each other's lives: coming out to family and friends, blending into the high-profile MMA world, dealing with Kage's sketchy uncle. But behind Kage's mask of strength and indifference lies a crippling vulnerability, and a devastating secret. As the mask comes off, past traumas surface, dark desires spin out of control, and the damaged fighter is driven to hurt the man he loves more than life itself.

A very enjoyable trilogy. Well performed and entertaining. Maris Black certainly knows how to write for her genre.

It was really good but there were not three stories it was one split in to three,

Should have been one book!

This is yet another trilogy which could've been wrapped up in one or two books at the most. If people pay careful attention, they can guess what's going to happen in book 3 so what's the point...other than to get readers to part with yet more money to get to the end of the story??

Anyhoo, mini rant over. I shall definitely be looking out for more JF Harding narrations in the future, and yes, there were a few niggles in this read, but not enough to detract from my overall enjoyment of it.

Well, you nailed it yet again J.F. Harding!!

Loved it, fell in love with the characters over all three books and now it's over, all I want is more!

Sad it's over

Never have I listened to a book with such intent, I just had to keep listening. The drama, the love, the emotions. Cage and Jamie I’m going to miss them - wow

Brilliant, loved all the books

Narrator one of the best.

Would you try another book written by Maris Black or narrated by J. F. Harding?

The series started off so well but the story and entertainment went down with each book with this being the most disappointing of all. Was glad to get to finished as it seemed drawn out, just wanted to get to the ending, which turned out to be pretty poor.

Has Kage Unmasked put you off other books in this genre?

No

What three words best describe J. F. Harding’s voice?

Easy to listen to

Worst book of the series

This is my first purchase of what I suppose would be categorised as gay romance/erotica. It would be easy to criticise the somewhat cartoon-like characters, the predictable plotlines, the clichés - but it was actually pretty enjoyable. Not everything has to be intellectual challenging or thought-provoking. It was performed creditably (my review covers the whole trilogy, as I wanted to finish the series before making judgement) and was entertaining. My only real criticism is the hurried (almost throwaway) dramatic climax - though if it ever made it to the screen I can see that visually it would be suitably dramatic. Whether I would have tried even the first book, let alone all three if they had not been in the sale is another matter!

Not at all bad!
