This audiobook is a very quick, very sweet listen. It, quite literally, starts with a burning hot forest fire which morphs into slow sizzling chemistry between rancher Allison and fire fighter James. Their attraction is quite evident almost from the start but it is their maturity and careful consideration of each other that wows the listener. Sometimes, when a romance develops too quickly, the HEA can feel contrived or unrealistic. Not with this book. It feels natural, especially as the characters express and address the same concerns that would normally have thrown the plot off balance.

Bump Turgeson narrates the story well. I enjoyed listening to his performance of the book.

James is a firefighter is sent to notify Allison that the sheep and goat farm property is to evacuate as a fire closing in. Ally has no intention of leaving her animals

The chemistry between James and Allison is hot. Allison that refused the first round of evacuations, Allison still refuses to leave her animals. This small farm is her dream, and she'll do everything she can to save it. The rest, as they say, is history. Because hunky James has more than just muscles going on, and he loves her smart sufficiency and how tough she is.

Highland County Heroes is sucking me in and making me fall for every hero I meet! This one features James, a wildland firefighter. Things are getting out of hand now and he is helping evacuate people. But he meets his match in Allison who has no intention of leaving her farm. It’s not your typical farm, and Allison has every angle taken care of to protect her livestock. James won’t take no for an answer, but finds out there is no pulling this lady from her home. It’s so easy to feel the emotions in this story. Allison is a tough cookie and I loved her spirit. She has such great qualities and is just so independent. Give her a man like James that shows his frustration, but respects her and you can’t help but fall for this couple. But in the end, will she be safe? Should she have evacuated? Will James be able to save her? So many questions, but it’s a great listen leaving me with a warm heart.

Bump Turgeson continues his narration of this series and is creating the community with his voice. I enjoyed his performance.

I thought this love story between James and Ali was beautiful. it flowed along they both knew they were falling in love both of them truly realizing their feelings after they sheltered together through the fire at Ali's farm. it was a really sweet book and I really liked it. Well done
