Irshad Manji is the best-selling author of The Trouble with Islam Today: A Muslim's Call for Reform in Her Faith. Manji has been called by The New York Times "Osama bin Laden's worst nightmare". The winner of Oprah Winfrey's first annual 'Chutzpah Award', Manji is currently a visiting fellow at Yale University and is producing a feature film about what there is to love within Islam.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the author of The Caged Virgin: An Emancipation Proclamation for Women and Islam, advocates the need for democratic governments to commit to defending the human rights of women in the Islamic world. Ali is a Dutch feminist and politician. She is a prominent (and often controversial) author, film maker, and critic of Islam.

Avery interesting conversation on religious intolerance, and how it affects a very large portion of society. This two ladies are very eloquent and articulate about the subject while coming from different positions both share the danger of opposing, or commenting on islam.
Women are the most affected by religious and cultural dictums and need to be at the forefront of the defence of women’s rights and human rights, at a time when western feminist think that these rights only apply to western women and never defend the rights of women from different cultures with vehemence they use for their own, forgetting that human rights are universal and that physical and mental abuse has no colour or religion, and that cultures are not sacred cows that are more important than the rights of individuals or human beings.
In a time when speaking out can be dangerous, ideas have more importance and value and this is a good forum to begin that dialog with free speech among intelligent women that really have something to share.
