Such a brilliant book, I really enjoyed the listen, and the story,
Joel gives such a brilliant insight,
in to being a cool musician who made an effort to avoid work and live the Musicians Life,
if you are a lover of 60s music Phsycadelia, rock and roll,
and of course the Brian Jonestown Massacre,
you should read this book, it is great.

Joel Gion is a great writer, much better than me, so my review is on a par with one written by a child…. Here goes.

I really enjoyed this book. I’d been looking forward to it for many months, having followed the career of the BJM and Joel for many years.

What a life this guy has had… can’t wait to read the sequel (please write one Joel, I’d love to know what happened next)

Thank you Joel for always being exquisitely YOU. As a fellow San Josean I can say you brought back so many dam memories of the early BJM days and SF Bay Area hey days. I miss those days and have some stories from that time with you all that I will share someday as you’ve inspired me to write my life. Folks this is the true DIG movie! This is what it was like and I can tell ya, you all should be jealous! 👑🍀

Amazing audiobook read by Joel. Could be a 12 hour spoken word theatre piece. Or stand up. There’s turns of phrase and show stopping sentences that any writer would kill for. Buy the book but definitely get this telling of it also, utterly brilliant and beautiful
