Difficult book, wonderfully read by N.Masters-Waage.
I believe Jhon Gribbin masterfully captures the core of what modern quantum science encompasses as well as the chronology if it's development. The only negative is that often I'd find myself struggling to comprehend certain analogies as the audiobook format is constrained to text only, as opposed to the paperback version of this book that has quite a few illustrations that help quite a lot.
If you expect a book that takes no effort to understand ex. (Astrophysics for people in a hurry by N.D.Tyson) you might be left disappointed as this piece will require your full attention to understand (coming for a complete layman in terms of quantum physics)

I recommend this book immensely to anyone remotely interested in physics at all. If you have a grasp on waves, the structure of the atom regarding electrons, special relativity and the photoelectric effect (at around A-level or pre-undergrad standard) then the first half of this book is more of a review and explanation of the history and discovery of these concepts, yet is still very interesting.

The real meat of the book comes at around the half way mark, where the truly mind-boggling aspects of our reality come into play, and is beautifully explained at a level both easily understood and scientifically accurate. I won’t spoil this content if, like myself, you’re going on blind with very little pre-knowledge on quantum mechanics. Although nearer the end there’s a little sprinkle of cosmology, which was greatly appreciated as well.

I think this is good for all ages !! Well at around 16+ i’d say, again previous study of physics at A-level is undeniably required, I say this as someone just entering their final year of sixth form. But yes, seriously read this book (or listen to it!)

The world of quantum physics explained to the layman. I had never imagined how the world of the atomic and sub atomic has opened a universe of free thinking on the true wonders of not only our own universe but the potential parallel universes within it

The author is obviously very knowledgeable and it shows. However, the author isn't so much a writer and storyteller as he is an academic. I felt disappointed by this book's lack of imaginative storytelling, there is little to excite the imagination or take us on a journey through his passion or bring a fresh perspective on physics. Its very dry, very factual, and almost a science/ history textbook but written in prose. I felt almost betrayed by the intriguing title of the book. You will certainly require at least a base level understanding of a lot of scientific jargon. Sorry, but it was just not for me.
