Summary

Now an animated movie from Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki, the oscar-winning director of Spirited Away

The beloved modern classic, released as an unabridged audiobook for the first time in 2019.

In the land of Ingary, where seven league boots and invisibility cloaks exist, young Sophie Hatter catches the unwelcome attention of the Witch of the Waste and is put under a spell . . .

Deciding she has nothing more to lose, Sophie makes her way to the moving castle that hovers on the hills above her town, Market Chipping. But the castle belongs to the dreaded Wizard Howl, whose appetite, they say, is satisfied only by the souls of young girls…

There Sophie meets Michael, Howl’s apprentice, and Calcifer the fire demon, with whom she agrees a pact. Her entanglements with Calcifer, Howl and Michael and her quest to break her curse come alive with Diana Wynne Jones’s unique combination of magic, humour and imagination.

Very charming and entertaining.

A great story with a very nice cast of characters. It's easy to follow and highly entertaining. Perfect for when you want something lighter. The narrator gave an awesome performance giving the characters a lot of personality. Completely loved it!

Perfection

This is the exact kind of book I needed. It makes me feel like I belong to another world in a way I haven’t felt since I was a child. Immediately starting the second book.

Love

Seen the anime and have always ment to read the book this is even better. The only thing is that there seems to be a problem at the end ( last hour or so)it keeps jumping it skipping.

Please hurry up and do unabridged versions of the next books

A beautiful story read beautifully

This has always been one of my favourite book. A brilliant fantasy book with interesting characters and a complex story line. If you’re a fan of the anime be prepared for a very different story but in my opinion much better.

The narrator does an amazing job at giving each character their own unique voice, which fit them perfectly. And most importantly she does the all important welsh accent for the main character.
