Brilliant

A brilliant guide to overcoming narcissism, delivered in what I though to be a thoroughly enjoyable way. With a strong emphasis on the impact it can have on relationships (both personally, in your love life, and in your career), the author highlights the importance of actively working to overcome the traits that are likely to negatively affect them.

Packed from start to finish with a wealth of valuable tips and hacks on cultivating self-love as a means of healing from narcissism, I found that it made you stop and think about what you do and how to work around it. Bailey gives a real feel good vibe, serving as a guiding light for personal growth and transformation with a nurturing tone full of humor and wisdom but without the usual ra-ra nonsense.

The information will make a big difference in my life and I’m grateful for the recommendation.

compassionate

I wondered if I was a narcissist, although I have a narcissistic injury from childhood, I don't think I'm particularly narcissistic all the time. I definitely related to some aspects, particularly a fragile ego and fits of rage. Current narratives about narcissism are unhelpful and I found this book compassionate in its delivery. I'm glad you mentioned the "empath" movement. I think there are many more people who have narcissistic injuries who hide behind the label of "empath". Trauma is a terrible thing and leaves a mark throughout history.

Useful insight

Having just finally discovered that I may be a narcissist, this book is eye opening. Most books on this subject our about how to “kick a narcissist out of your life” or survive living with them. Being a narcissist trying to be better I could not find a lot of content directed at the narcissist but rather their victim.
This book is the exception and would be a great eye opener to anyone who has realized they have some narcissistic behaviours/ traits and want to work on being a better person

Self-love but not self-centered.

Toxic narcissism can affect a person's relationship with their environment and cause them to worry too much about their appearance and the recognition they receive from others. It is a form of exaggerated self-esteem and a desire for empowerment that usually results in abusive and manipulative behavior.

This audiobook helps you to acknowledge your own shortcomings and flaws when relating to others helping you to connect, improve relationships, and help others to develop as well in the process. It has helped me to be able to visualize how I can work inside myself to be more empathetic, which can only be a good thing.

It’s all about perspective

One of the key takeaway messages to this is to understand that even though your own perspective on a situation counts a lot, it’s not the only one that counts, and if you are truly on a path of self-improvement then it’s never too late to learn to be a little more empathetic and take responsibility for your actions. Loved it and will listen to it again for sure.

Practice gratitude rather than attention seeking

A very informative and enjoyable listen. I like the parts about reminding yourself to be grateful, cause once you do this you can take a step back and see most situations for what they really are. The information came easy and I leaned a lot.
