Over dramatic narration
I didn’t love this story; it’s not all that original and very slow moving. I have to say though, I really did not like the narration. Unfortunately, Emily Lawrence seemed to be in a permanent state of near hysteria and even someone blowing their nose appeared to be a disaster of cataclysmic proportions. I’m sorry to say I really didn’t enjoy this one and I will be returning it.

A heady, gothic retelling
10/10 for the creepy, gothic retelling of the 12 dancing sisters. Thoroughly enjoyed it. V well done.

Surprised by this book
Listening to this book was alright the narrator done well. However I wish there could have been more people reading the different characters.
The story itself is not what I expected. It pulls you in, you think you know what's going to happen and like the main character in the book you end up not knowing what to think. I loved the book, I'm not one for spooky or thrillers. So listening to it in the bath or in the dark is a big NO! It is now one of my favourites, but I will not be making that mistake again!

I'm not sure
Struggled to finish. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't compelling enough to make me rush to bed early or ignore other distractions. Perhaps, I wanted more fantasy.

Loved this book and its dark theme
I loved the eerie tone of the story, twists and reveals made along the way. some thigs, however, did not make so much sense. Without goin into details suni don't spoil it for ppl, characters in this book seem to accept the existence of some things that would normally be impossible without giving it a second thought, which seemed a bit odd to me. but overall was a very good book. the couple is v nice, not extremely original but very well written nonetheless. the narrator was v good and I did think the voice suited the main character. I do recommend it.

Most Irritating Narration of the year
Great story just wish I'd read it rather than listened it. The narrator uses a really irritating Mid Atlantic voice for anyone not the heroine which makes everyone sound like Effie from the Hunger Games.
Excellent if slightly convoluted storyline. Would be an excellent YA film 15 years ago

A favourite to reread
“I wouldn’t mind if our wishes got twisted up in each other.”
This book was beautiful, haunting, dark, and sometimes outright terrifying. I loved all of it.
I prolonged finishing this book for as long as I possibly could, I never wanted it to end.
I don’t know what else to say. It was intense, it kept me guessing and it made me cry so, so much. Two moments in particular were heart-wrenching.
I am not ready to leave Highmoor. I see a lot of rereads in my future.
I really enjoyed the audio. Emily brought so much emotion to the characters she read.
And the characters, ugh, sometimes when you read a book you come away from it feeling like you’ve gotten to know real people, and that’s what this book has given me.
I will cherish this story, always. It is definitely one of my all time favourite books. I cannot wait to read it again, and again.

enjoyable
A very good story, dark and many twists, a decent climax, though over a bit quick after a long build up. my only down side was some of the sisters sounded to young, put didn't throw the story to much.
