I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Jacqui’s honest, funny and emotional story. Her courage and independence as a female traveller is inspirational, and it was fantastic to hear her tell the story herself through the audiobook. A great book for motorbike enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys travel.

Great insight into a personal adventure

You can't read this book without thinking about going on an adventure, experiencing something new and caring a bit less. You also can't read this and think it's just about riding a motorcycle around the the world on a jolly. This is a story about transformation and change, a motorbike being the "vehicle" for that (excuse the pun).
Jacqui's story really highlighted to me the need to be true to yourself, live outside of your comfort zone, and to take the inherited restrictions of Western life less seriously.
Like many others I can't jump on my bike and leave everything for 7 years, I have lots of commitments that I am happy about, (for the most part at least). What I can do though is take some of these lessons and apply them where I can; spontinaety, fearing less, being open to people and unusual environments, being adventurous and honest. These are just some of the things I have taken from this book.
Finally, and probably the most amazing thing, is that Jacqui started this journey when she was 50! 50 isn't old of course, but most people think that all things are settled by that stage of life. Who knows, it might just be getting started. Matt (48).

Loved this book. I've just started motorcycling again after a few years off and bought a Royal Enfield so this has really inspired me to plan some trips and get out there on my own, as I have no-one to tour with. The start of the tale coincides with my time living in Asia and travels in India and brought back some great memories with her great descriptions of people and places. Very well narrated by the author who comes across as very down to earth and warm person, which isn't always the case with travel writers who sometimes appear very patronising to the local people that they meet on their travels. I'm currently unwell and unable to ride my new bike so this was the perfect listen as I felt like I was there with her.

One of the reasons I listen to books is to hear the words the author wrote in their own voice. And Jacqui's narration is an absolute delight. She's clear, likeable, gentle, self-effacing and curious. Her journey takes place over a seven-year period, but of course there's generally a catalyst for such a journey and very often a period of readjustment when it's ended. Jacqui is honest and open from the beginning to the end; from the 'prologue' (if you like), to the 'afterword' (which I found particularly moving). The physical journey took her round the world on an Enfield Bullet motorbike – and you do need a certain amount of determination and savvy to undertake such a venture. The emotional journey runs parallel and is honest, and often raw. I absolutely love this book. Sure ... it will appeal to those who like travel (some wonderfully evocative descriptions of places), bikes and biking adventures. But more than that, this is an account of a middle-aged woman making brave decisions – big and small – in order to learn about herself. Definitely worth checking out.

I have listened to several touring books and to date this is the best. What a woman. Inspiring and fearless. Doing what many only dream of. My only thoughts would be, would this be the same experience for a man? I don't think strangers would be as accommodating for a guy
