Starting in the Caucasus Mountains, you’ll get a taste of ancient history and a lesson on the first wines ever, as well as the gods who were believed to bring them to us. I'm not a wine expert, but this is an excellent introduction to wines and the wine trade. It is very strong on the historical background. My only criticism is the very unfunny "jokes" Wagner cracks every now and again: they are extremely irritating and interrupt the otherwise interesting narration.

An absolutely engaging series of lectures that take you on a journey through time and around the globe. Paul Wagner is clearly a master of his craft. The World of Wine can be intimidating, but this series of lectures are extremely approachable, delivered in a fun and storytelling manner while serving as a great educational resource for anyone interested in learning.

This is one of the very best Audible books I have enjoyed. Incredibly Interesting and wonderfully Narrated by Paul Wagner. I was so disappointed when I finished Chapter 12, that I have decided to listen to it all over again!

If you’re leas interested in tasting notes and more interested in getting to grips with the history and politics of wine in an accessible way, read this. I’m a qualified wine teacher and host and this book still taught me loads. I think this is the first review I have left on audible as well. I razed through this book in one day. It’s that good. Brilliant engaging narration. Stories told with wit and enthusiasm. Loved it.

Great to listen to without too much detail of grapes or vintages, but enough information to understand why and how wine is produced in about a dozen countries around the globe. Won’t make you a wine buff, but will make you understand, for example, why NZ produces great Sauvignon Blanc and Argentina goes for Malbec
