Awesome

This book has given me a deep appreciation for history. Non-biased and detailed. I gave it one star less because he does go into to much detail with too many names. I would have appreciated him giving more general themes and highlight the main figures.

History Of India

I'm a history buff and this book is very interesting. It is not a one-sided, bias book, but tries to give a very good broad overview and when there are some issues which different historians disagree on, he will give both views and site who they are(such as the Indian historians who don't admit to some of the influences from the west in Indian culture) Overall very interesting, well written, and intriguer.

Very Informative

I was initially inclined towards buying different books for ancient, medieval and modern Indian history, but since I didn't find good books for each separately, I decided to try this one-in-all book. Given the obscurity and lack of direct evidence associated with Indian history, one has to say its a great piece of work with all five thousand years of Indian history condensed into one precisely well written, highly recommended book.

Good To Go

Altogether an excellent book on India's history and its ancient civilization. A book to read -- an educating refresher, if you will -- even if you know about Indian history already.

Not that captivating

Mainly about country political history, except last few chapters. Unfortunately, narration is slightly shallow, unexciting.
