About this listen
Surviving, having survived, comes with a body count.
Jonathon Hunter has evoked the wrath of 27th-century pirates. With his sexy twin bodyguards, Jonathon seeks to come to grips with station life in a suddenly hostile universe.
Celebrity, gratitude, sudden attacks, and a mysterious prophecy are more than most 18-year-olds can handle. A reluctant hero, Jonathon is on a journey, seemingly out of his time, but always in time.
Meet Jon Hunter as he starts a two-year journey to prophecy, with his AI sidekick and mostly female mercenary team.
This is a rollicking coming-of-age story of life in space, fighter- and ground-combat action, and surviving the consequences of surviving.

Even better in audio than ebook and the ebook is great.
I don't spoilers, just whether book and narration is good or not. Narration is really good but a tiny bit lacking in RSVP, Rythm, Speed, Volume & Pitch. Mix those properly to project a voice and give it the required umph when necessary and all that good stuff that makes a narration able to be listened to. A little bit more variance and a little less mono. Actually I could listen to the narrator easily but I'm a bit of a nitpicker in this. It in no way detracts from a full 5 star book.
Now you just need to get busy with the other 12 books in the series as I'm already eager to listen to those as well.
P.S. Already pre-ordered Yesterday's SpaceMage and eager to listen to that also.
Brilliant 1st book in a great series

The book itself is lacking depth of character (as some otherwise reviews have mentioned) and depth of plot. An example near the start is the bounty paid for ships recovered and actions taken by the teenage protagonist. It just all happens in a day. For a more believable example see Nathan Lowell's books where it takes months.
The protagonist, Jonathan, is also not believable. So two dimensional. Hence my feelings thar anyone over twenty is going to get bored.
The world building is again shallow. Almost cartoonish. No real depth. This is emphasised by not only the lack of individuality of secondary characters but on one occasion just a voice although the person is meant to be in the same room.
Very much YA - decent reader
